Please suggest me a mobile phone in a budget of Rs. 10000. My requirements are as follows:
-Excellent reception and sound quality
-Very good battery life
-Sturdy build
-Good FM radio, music capability
-Camera not important.

Thanks in advance!

Well for 10k the only all-rounder phone available is the SE W810i (9.2k), as suggested above..
it's sturdy,has a good 2mp cam,fm,music & no reception or sound quality issues..

Ok...so I enquired about about W810i at my nearest Subhiksha dealer. He quoted 9150 without (external) speakers and 9950 with speakers. Is this OK? I didn't know it came in 2 versions - with speakers and without speakers.

I tried out the walkman in my SE W810i. The bundled earphones are sub-par. However, when I connected my Sennheiser earphones (bundled with my i-river mp3 player), it sounded very good!
Also, the Disc2Phone software is crap! Is there a way to store songs the way we want to? I mean can we directly copy songs into the music folder using windows explorer and create our own folder structure? Can we better control the order of songs being played?

well if there's a nokia pc suite kind of software for SE installed on your comp then it should recognize the phone when connected.go to the"phone browser"(if there's such a thing),get into ur specified location & copy the songs to same.in a nokia, you could always do that..not sure bout SE.

there are issues with the bundled SE music software & its also slow! well try gettin the latest version of the 'disc2phone' or/and any other software reqd.

or try arranging/sorting your tracks accordingly and put them into r mem. card directly ,using a mem. card reader..

but i guess the SE Walkman Player function effectively,if you used the recommended(bundled) music software to load music into ur phone..

hope this helped..

can anyone suggest a phone for my Dad with budget of 8k - 12k...
longer battery life and bluetooth headset capability is needed with a 1.3 or 2mp camera..

How about HP IPaq 512 ?? or Nokia 6300 ??

thanx in advance..

Cheers,

Nick

Firstly regarding your choices..

The HP-IPAQ 512

-poor 1.3mp camera

-slow usb speeds

The Nokia 6300

-no 3g

-avg. 2mp camera(no flash or autofocus)

That said, these are the phones id recommend..

*Nokia E51(business phone,3g,wifi,2mp cam,bluetooth v2 - 12.2k - RECOMMENDED)

*Samsung U600 - good 3.2mp cam,very thin,touch keys,lot of features - 11.8k

*Nokia 6300 - 2mp cam,very easy to use & has lot of features - 7.4k

For a little more..

*Nokia N73Me - 13.4k

Last but not the least, check out the above phones in person & decide which will suit him the best !
