MY Girlfriend is also little bit into photography and her birthday is coming up mid november Im thinking of a entry level SLR camera as a birthday gift. Can anyone please suggest some good models sub20K can stretch to 25k max.

In your budget, you can get Canon 1000D with Kit lens + Canon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens...very good combo within 25k

or you can get her a Panasonic FZ35 / FZ100

will be better for her than a entry level DSLR!!!!

Okie thx guys think Panasonic will be a better option since she basically uses a basic point and shoot cam and SLR wud be a overkill for her.

Brilliant snaps Pranay ! Is it the Sigma 10-20 ? Any filters used ?

Had clicked this 4-5 months back , handheld at 1/2 sec shutter speed :| So it's not very sharp but I loved the feel of the image so ended up re-editing it and uploading it .

Well those were with the sigma 10-20. Might have been with a 0.6 Soft grad ND, I dont remember.

I also had my tamrom 90mm and nikkon 300mm F/4.

^awesome :O, so it would suffice to say that a sharp 300mm is by and large all you need for birding/wildlife photography?

Yah Abhishek had asked me, and I'd sent him 3 or 4 snaps. I couldnot attend sadly
