The Witcher 3 - Discussion Thread

Looks like what I feared is not rumours afterall.

Oh well, not that I would have been able to max it out anyways, but those people with shiny new 970s and 980s might feel a little let down.

Official canned response, thread locked shortly afterwards.

Well, read about this on another forum a day or two back when the story broke, I don't think it changes anything the game is still going to be brilliant as reviews have suggested, even if it has been graphically consolised that would be a bummer, will still be a gorgeous game!

Pre-load completed. Now just have to stack up my saves from Witcher 2 and wait till 19th. I haven't touched a single game for more than a week now.

This really has been an epic journey, I am currently paying Witcher 1, I think the only other game that I enjoyed this much was the ME series. There is a live IGN steam, the game looks effin beautiful, the combat system looks crisp and sharp, jeez can't wait.

Do you guys use a controller for such games with the pc? If yes, please suggest a controller.

EPIC doesn't even begin to describe it. My Witcher 2's playthrough was so memorable. It was a no brainer for it to turn into my best RPG till date, heck even the best game. With all the downgrade talk, I just hope the trade-off isn't huge.

I have ordered a Xbox 360 wireless controller for Windows today. Natively, I guess, that would be your best choice. DS4 is quite popular among some, but I'm personally more inclined towards the 360 controller.

Couldn't agree more, can you please share the link from where you ordered the xbox controller? Are you certain it is genuine?

Here is a nice little review by the Polygon - http://www.polygon.com/2015/5/13/8533059/the-witcher-3-review-wild-hunt-PC-PS4-Xbox-one

It calls the game - 'racist, sexist and oppressive'

bless whoever at CD Projekt decided Geralt would automatically draw the correct sword when combat starts..

That said, the world CD Projekt has created is oppressively misogynist. In some ways, the game deals directly with this — characters acknowledge again and again that it's hard to be a woman there, that it's a place of violence and terror and that women must work harder to be recognized and respected.

When they're not being murdered, women inThe Witcher 3are comically sexualized. Nudity is everywhere — think Game of Thrones on HBO — and even when they're dressed, female leads don't have it much better. One character, the subject of an extended series of side quests and whom plays a fairly important role in advancing the story wears a dress with a neckline so wide I was pretty sure I was seeing an areola every time she turned to the side (no, seriously).

At minimum, it requires PCs with 6GB of memory, as well as an Intel i5 processor (or equivalent), clocked at 3.3GHz. Ideally, players should have 8GB of RAM and a processor clocked at 4GHz.[DOUBLEPOST=1431646432][/DOUBLEPOST]

According to the reviewer at vg247, mouse+kb is better for PC because of the way the menus are set out (a chore to navigate with a joystick). If the game supports on the fly switching between both the control styles (like in DS/DS2), it will be awesome :)

Would love to play this, unfortunately My PC will not be able to take it, as my specs are minimum specs.
  • Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz.
  • AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940 - This what I got
  • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660. - Me got a NVIDIA GTX760
  • AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870.
  • RAM 6GB. - Me got 4GB RAM
  • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
  • DirectX 11.
  • HDD Space 40 GB.
Time to earn enough money to spend on an update. GPU, mobo and RAM update I do need. AMD is the way to go for a good budget one. This PC has lasted me since 2009 with one GPU change from NVIDIA 260 to 760. Though I can play Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition albeit with a few hiccups here and there on lower resolutions.

If you plan to stick with the configuration, you'll definitely have to sacrifice some details to get acceptable frame rates. The only question remains on how optimised it is for the PC. Witcher 2 had almost destroyed my old rig, but I somehow managed to tweak it a bit and complete the hell out of it; twice.

But this time, I'm fully prepared with my 970. Bring it on CDPR.

Yeah most probably, I'll hafta run at lower resolutions and Medium to high settings. Will need to experiment. Right now am enjoying Dragon Age: Inquistion and Far Cry 4 too much to bother yet! I'll wait it out, let the game drop in price and then buy. By that time, hopefully, money will start rolling in enough for me too!

Good for you. I suppose 760 should be able to pull it off on Medium, but the RAM might choke up. Don't take my word for it though. The games these days are really stressing the hardware out. You can bet your money, this game would be no exception, no matter what the downgrade is. I'm pretty sure I might have to sacrifice Ultra on some features too. Anyhoo, the game isn't that far, so we'll know on Tuesday.

Does anyone know if this game can be activated on steam even if its purchased on disc locally? I would like it in my steam library, but the disc version for India cost considerably cheaper than the steam version
