Finally done with the game and suffice to say, it was horrible. I'm mostly pissed because I spent around 53 hours completing each level with proper stealth, avoid all confrontation, gather every single loot and collectible available in each chapter (barring chapter 6 where I missed one loot) only to get random rating. The height of it's inane rating system was crossed at chapter 7. As you can see below, I only raised one suspicion and besides that, I never got detected, never laid a hand on a single guard, didn't so much as gave them a whiff of me being there. I even got by the level without being noticed in the boss battle with the General for f*ck's sake. Yet, I got a "Predator" rank. Holy sh*te! This has to be a joke. I have went through countless YouTube videos where people who have raised far more suspicions than me and managed to at least snag an 'Opportunist' rating. I went through a full ghost walk-through video and even he raised only one suspicion at the very same place that I did, which is pretty much unavoidable if you want to get 100% loot, but managed to get a 'Ghost' rating.
This is a bloody stealth game. They should have at least provide a proper breakdown of where someone went wrong and how one got the rating. The pie chart is absolutely useless, as it only shows up towards the end, which won't explain what went wrong during the game. In all the chapters I managed to go undetected, yet in some of the stats, the challenge wouldn't show as completed. I'm also not sure why they even have an 'Opportunist' rating in place. This rating system states "You preferred using the environment to your advantage over all other means", which basically means you get penalized for blowing out candles, extinguishing torches, leaving doors/loot chests open etc. Isn't the essence of a ghost rating to not get detected and go by without raising any red flags? Why can't I get that if I blow out some candles and extinguish a few torches?
Anyway, besides that rant, the game was pretty much bland in it's storyline and lame characters. The only good thing about it was the sound effects and dark atmosphere. Performance was stable throughout. Honestly, I'm disappointed, as this was my first Thief game and it didn't really impress me. The game had potential, but was marred by these petty issues. Hope they work on this, if there is a sequel.
Behold the shitty results below. I couldn't post all the stats as the post would be way too long, but I also managed to complete all side missions and client jobs with 100% loot.
