This is really really cheap and downright abusive behaviour. The worst part is that they just make overpriced shitty skins and charge a lot for shipping.
I am seeing that many on Twitter hate seeing countries in Asia flourish while their countries are rotting. They take it out on people in such posts. I really hope this guy files a police complaint on dBrand but more than that I hope our hyper mainstream media picks up this and show dBrand as racist company. That will bring those idiots to their knees.what's more disrespectful is that people enjoying this in comments, people think it's okay to bully.
dont know what dbrand is so proud of? Layers In India makes better skin for phones.
That guy can easily win a settlement by filing court case or public humiliation. This will be an easy win for him.I dont think filing a complain will do anything to dbrand, what Indians could do at best is to report that post under hate and racial slur on x.
We indians get bashed everywhere, few days ago I was being trolled on Discord in a Ubiquiti server.
It's an echo chamber of trolls who extract pleasure from inflicting pain upon others. Present in all corners of the planet.people think it's okay to bully.
+1 The brand needs to compensate. Should be 10 lacs minimum. That guy can easily win a settlement by filing court case or public humiliation. This will be an easy win for him.
Some brains are perpetually underdeveloped. Whoever is operating that Twitter handle needs mental help. Imagine trolling someone over your inability to read and comprehend words.then took to posting as an attempt at "humor"
Oh in case that is how they are consistently with everyone, and it can be reasonably assumed that there was no malintent, then it is fair to say we don't need to worry too much about it from the racism angle, despite it being quite insensitive. I was under the impression that they had targeted him specifically.Am I the only one here who doesn't think this is racist? You may think it's a dick move, and that's fair, but these guys make fun of literally everyone - that's their whole schtick and what makes their marketing so effective.
Don't get me wrong, I think making fun of someone's name is pretty childish, but I haven't seen anything to indicate they wouldn't do the same thing to a Westerner.
Indeed.dick
He thought it was a fake ID nothing more. This happens and one kind of joke is to purposely pick strange fake names and ask a question only to hear the host struggle to pronounce it.This is really really cheap and downright abusive behaviour. The worst part is that they just make overpriced shitty skins and charge a lot for shipping.
I usually advertise myself as an Indian Trump supporting redneck and act obnoxious. No problemsWe indians get bashed everywhere, few days ago I was being trolled on Discord in a Ubiquiti server.
this only makes it worse: They didn't feel the need to state that the problem was solved, at least as a side-note, but were 'attempting humour'? If the intention was marketing, wouldn't you want to somehow let people know that you've solved it? Sounds more like they're attempting deterrence against people taking issues to social media now.Apparently, dbrand solved the query first, and then took to posting as an attempt at "humor"
It's understandable that people are upset about what they said, but I'd rather have this than have another plain and characterless company in the world. Our brand voice hasn't changed one bit since 11-11-2011. Have some of you gotten tired of our communication style? It would appear so. We don't care. This isn't some ****ing marketing schtick. What you see, what you read, and what you experience is nothing more than a window into who we are.
The intersection of our accessibility and our abrasiveness has always made us a polarizing brand. Some people find our honesty and lack of filter charming. Others find it grating and annoying. Neither group is right or wrong, nor do we have an obligation to tailor our brand voice to align with your standards. If you’re looking for a company who fakes parasocial relationships and bends over backwards to meet socially acceptable norms around politically correct corporate speak, all in a thinly veiled attempt to exploit your hard-earned money, look elsewhere. We make an excellent set of products and we want your ****ing money. Simple as that.
You might take issue with, for instance, a cart abandonment email that says "hey human, don’t be a wimp and purchase what you left in the cart," but the fact of the matter is that a lot of people are into it.
This is exactly what it means to be polarizing: what one person hates, another will love. Take politics, for example. While most brands treat political discourse like corporate suicide, we jump right off the bridge. Some say that you can't please everybody. We don't even try.

Love these guys. Yay. These are real peopleThis is exactly what it means to be polarizing: what one person hates, another will love. Take politics, for example. I would much rather deal with a professional boring company 365 days of the year instead of paying someone to abuse me? What is so cool about that?I think they're alright. Sure their joke wasn't funny enough to justify the drama or the 10,000 USD they offered the guy, but i don't think we should mistake this for a marketing stunt. They make good stuff and take care of people when they have issues. It doesn't make sense to go around whining about their character, just as it doesn't make sense to whine about how the shopkeeper of a grocery store is an asshole otherwise.
The below lines (taken from their reply to a reddit thread here) may provide a view of why they may do what they do.
