Who takes over the WWE IP now?

EDIT: Never mind, got it. It's Take-Two Interactive. Hope Yukes is out of the picture now and 2K can do a better job at the development. Also, finally hope this franchise crosses over to PC. It's been long over-due.

Darksiders franchise is dead as of now. No one bid for Vigil Games? Probably because they just have 2 games to their name. What sadness! :'(

Then how come 4A Games got picked up?

It has only one title to its name, METRO 2033.

Because the dev. saw some potential in the franchise? Besides, 4A was formed by former employees from GSC, the devs. that made S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Mainly by two guys who were the programmers for the X-Ray engine. GSC itself has gone under since then and resurrected as Vostok.

Hope SEGA and Koch Media honour the time plots and release the respective games on time.

So the final run down looks like :

  • Sega will purchase Relic for $26.6 million, with Zenimax acting as a back-up bidder at $26.3 million.
  • Koch Media will purchase Volition and the Metro franchise for $22.3 million and $5.8 million respectively.
  • Crytek will purchase Homefront for $500,000.
  • Take 2 will purchase Evolve for $10.8 million, outbidding the game's developer Turtle Rock.
  • Ubisoft will purchase THQ Montreal for $2.5 million and South Park: The Stick of Truth for $3.265 million.

Most of the names are known, except Koch Media. Koch Media is the parent company of Deep Silver, developer on the Dead Island and Risen games, and has co-published titles with a number of other companies including Catherine with Atlus and Warhammer: Mark of Chaos with Namco.

Sega now owns both the Warhammer Fantsay and the Warhammer 40k IPs. This could be interesting. I also hope they do something with the Homeworld IP, something which THQ never had the resources to pursue. All in all, a decent outcome, except for Volition. The story of Freespace will remain unfinished.

Koch owns Deep Silver right?

Because Deep Silver has an interesting history to it, published a decent bunch of games including --
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky
  • Risen Saga
  • Gothic 3
  • Warhammer Mark of Chaos (with Namco)
So all in all I'm happy with the outcome. Just hope that Company of Heroes 2 and METRO Last Light dates remain the same.

Yes, they do, and they have a horrible QA record. Gothic 3 had more bugs than Oblivion, Morrowind and Fallout 3 put together.

So now wwe 13 will be most probably taken by taken two , i hope the game becomes better and most important comes to pc .

I know that but I think that is not just the Publisher's role, it has to reflect on the Developer's QA process as well.

You have to agree that Clear Sky was the buggiest S.T.A.L.K.E.R. release.

Still better a buggy release than the title ending up in ACTIVISION OR EA's hands. Where METRO would have been turned into METRO Call of BattleField Tunnel shooter edition.

Haha yes, that would have been worse. Stalker with scripted sequences and 3 hour campaign. Even the thought makes me cringe.

I think the Metro IP is still owned by 4A Games, it's the publishing rights that Koch seems to have bought.

Who is stating otherwise.

We were speculating if ACTIVISION OR EA had managed to get the publishing rights for the game, either it would have been shafted OR turned into another Call of BattleField clone with minor differences.

So how does that contradict with what I said? I was just replying to a post above that said Koch had bought the Metro franchise.

Yes Koch Media GmbH has technically bought the Right's to fund, distribute and Publish the works from Volition Studios and 4A Games. It comes under Deep Silver's ambit of the organization to facilitate all these modalities.

Koch Media GmbH is the parent company of Deep Silver --> Deep Silver is a Publisher and distributor of software / game titles / localization of International media --> 4A Games and Volition Studios are Developers and have been 'acquired' by Koch.

Now you get it? :wacko.gif_1:

Looks like Platinum games (bayonetta) might pick up vigil. Darksiders will be in good hands if they do so.

Platinum games is interested in the Darksiders IP, not in the Vigil Studio. So far it hasn't happened, but if does, it means Vigil will probably dissolve, and Platinum will make the next Darksiders. Which makes me sad, Vigil had a pretty unique art style. Platinum also has zero experience in PC porting, none of their previous games were ported to PC.

A Vigil employee was quoted saying that the next Darksiders would have had 4 player coop as each of the 4 Horsemen (and women), but with no one picking up Vigil in the auction, those chances have effectively disappeared. Pretty sad state of affairs for those guys.

and if Platinum Games pick up the IP, kiss the franchise goodbye on PC platform. They are console exclusive developers, for now.
