First you are concerned that if people are annoyed with ur nick, you are willing to change it to something which doesn't annoy people. Next if people are going to tell you they don't like your face (no offence), will you go for a facial reconstruction ? :bleh:

but then if all the people are of the same opinion ..like most in this thread..i think in the spirit of going around well with all the guys i dont mind changing the nick ..its only a nick isnt it ?
for me it's not a big deal..but then i can understand at times people can find it irritating when Numbers actually mean a alphabet..
the quote in my sig doesn't relate to such small matter

On a more serious note, I was told by another member on this forum that whenever you make posts online (be it a tech forum or a website), make sure you
1. Never use caps (That's shouting!)
2. Never use SMS lingo.
Like dipen01 said, SMS lingo was invented to save time and money when replying or inquiring something. If you are posting here, I guess you don't have to worry about either one of them :bleh:
I've no problem reading posts written in SMS lingo, though it takes some more time to read it. But what ticks me off is when people use terms like "ma" for my, "fren" for friend. It sounds really pretentious and fake :no:

nicks are not the issue. But when the whole conversation is in lingo it becomes irritating to read that. Specially when the guy is asking for answer to his problem and i see whole paragraph filled with da, wnt, ppl, dnt, bot,dat, ma, it seriously irritates me to go through that.
1-2 commonly used words, short forms, lingos are fine in post. but when whole post is like that then honestly i wont even bother to read and answer to that fellow.

even i am against whole posts full of lingos ...its just not bearable .. 
i think the first few posts of newbies should be moderated before they appear in the thread.. and incase they do not follow a proper basic language rule they shouldnt be allowed to post or should be warned that sms lingo and short forms are now allowed.
i think T-bhp follows such a rule.

Nicks can be anything, who cares... the problem is when people start posting the entire thread in SMS lingo. Mobile phones is one thing, you don't have full keyboard in most of them. Even then with predictive text how difficult is it to put the whole english word? But still it's fine on mobiles to type in SMS lingo.
But on the bloody comp you have bloody full keyboard, does it take too much pain to type properly?

What i can't stand in sms lingo is using completely unrelated three letter word substitutes - like clg for college. I have never used sms lingo even when typing out smses. Prefer using t9 to type out the whole word.
Even worse, people use this even in emails! I mean you aren't going to spend extra money to send an email in properly typed English, so why the annoying short forms???

Don't use 'hate'- it's a very strong word and conveys a very wrong message.
Yes, one may 'dislike strongly' or something like that.
90% of the times, a simple, polite request to the OP to type normally takes care of things.
The best thing to do in such a situation is tell the OP politely that you cannot understand a single thing what has been posted and you won't be able to offer any help as you cannot read/comprehend what he/she wants/asked for. :rofl:

I personally can think of only two reasons people post in l33t speak.
1) They are not bothered enough to take a small amount of time to post in a manner that would be clear to others.
2) They think it's cool.
Both these reasons will , in my opinion, drop the value of the post a couple of notches.
Of course I will have to pass over these posts, everyone has a right to post in l33tspeak. But I have the right to whine about it with other like minded people, and hope maybe atleast one or two poeple may change their style of writing.
