Laptops To Clean a ThinkPad

I'd like to fully clean up my E14 Gen 5 and take better care of the touchpoints to prevent oil wear. How do I clean grime off the screen and keys, and what can I use to minimise the wear from skin oils on the keys and wrist rest areas? Also, if there's any way to de-fingerprint the top and bottom cases (both aluminium), that'd be great too

I've used the premoistened wipes from Zeiss to clean both screens and plastic parts and it works pretty well. However, you'll find that most of the stock from Amazon hardly has any moisture left and they are not very effective.

I've switched to using Zeiss' spectacle lens cleaning spray along with a microfiber cloth. The bottle says it's for all optical surfaces including cameras etc but you should do your own check before using.

I will certainly look into this, thank you. By "plastic parts" do you mean the keycaps? Because I specc'd a full aluminium build (not sure what parts come plastic as standard) and I'm wondering if it would damage the finish?

I meant the casing, touchpad, etc. But I don't think it'd damage an aluminum finish. I'd say maybe take a little if it in the cloth and try cleaning a corner of one key as a test. Don't spray it on the machine.

I'm guessing it will work fine even on laptop/mobile screens since its made for camera lens? I'm mainly looking for a cleaning spray for phones etc if they happen on fall on roads etc

Handwash soap (diluted) + damp microfiber cloth. Go crazy with it. Just need to keep one microfiber cloth for the soapy pass and one clean microfiber cloth for the final water only pass.

Handwash is very mild, so it doesn't damage any plastics or metals. Even the coatings on phone/laptop screens are unaffected by soap. Because your hands always have soap residue, if they were affected by soap you would have known already.

I've been using a wet-dry flannel cloth for built-up dirt or marks on the screen (just wetting one corner and going ham with a finger), and it's working very well. I will try this next time

Actually when I said 'go crazy' I just meant you can use it anywhere. Just make you apply gentle pressure (folding up the microfiber helps) and don't use too much water (just damp it with soapy water) otherwise a little bit of water could get into the cracks that way, especially in the keyboard keys. What you are describing (going ham with a finger) might cause scratches on plastics if the cloth has even a little bit of dust trapped in it.

It works well on those. I clean my monitor and laptop screen with it.

The soap roadrash suggested would also work but i'm a bit hesitant to use that on phones especially because I've previously encountered some of the liquid going into the phone's ear speaker and causing it to not work for several months. But if you don't dampen the cloth too much that shouldn't happen. If something falls on a road I think I'd prefer the soap to clean it. The spray is better if it's just dust and finger smudges etc. and not road dirt, IMO.
