Graphic Cards Too many colours, what is happening?

Hi

What does this mean?

From few days, once or twice the screen flickered for a second pink colour.

Today, the entire session from the boot screen to choose between win xp and win 98 to the time loading xp was in pink colour contiunously and the desktop appeared normally.

But,the part of the loading showing colours is the part that doesn't even require vga so can I assume my radeon 9800pro to be safe?

Its a standard monitor problem. It happens either when there is a loose contact or when the CRT is abt to die.

^^ in such a case, does Degaussing help to diagnose/rectify the problem?
Degaussing helps only when the monitor has been affected by stray magnetic fields (maybe during transportation ?) bcoz of which colors in generally one corner of the screen are wrong. (Are reddish/greenish generally). If its a loose contact, then the entire screen will turn violet or pink. In such cases degaussing doesn't help.

So this menas my dear radeon is safe.

Also, just today did i format my pc and it hung when i started it (not the first time though).

My desktop shows certain coloured dots at some places some times, even after formating,no oc and these dots can be temporarily hid by puting something over them and then removing it.

More trouble,my vga is now giving artifacts just after formating with drivers that were provided with the card.

Now like many times before in a game display i loose control over the mouser and it moves on its own and is difficult to control: ut 2004 demo or beta demo

So, a loose contact can also cause this..I'll have 2 have one of the monitors in my Gaming Zone checked out. it was also showing the same symptoms and I had presumed that it was on its way to hardware heaven(me being so geeky,I make a lot of presumptions about hardware/software problems :cool2: ).

It's a frayed cable that is causing this heartache for you ....just shake the cable and things willll be back o alrite...last resort of course is to change the rgb cable

how about this problem?

what does tihs mean?

people at forums.anandtech say that my radeon is bad.

try using atitool and reduce the speeds of the core and memory. see if it helps reducing the artifacts.

check the heatsink it the fan is working and check that theres no dust

if its a card on its last legs, check about getting it replaced

1. Post a screenshot, if ita prob with the monitor wont show on the sreenies, ifts the VGA card will show up as simple as that !!!!

take the card back to the dealer. if you assembled your pc at the same place take the whole thing back and ask the guy to solve all ur problems (ie replace whatever is necessary)

Hi

I have made a theory for my graphic card , mercury 300watts ps.,300watts is min stated by ati for this card(does this mena 300watts stated,or contiunous)

Initiall my radeon 9800pro (months ago) worked fine with manufacturer supplied drivers(bundled ones), when i installed omega after some times there were artifacts.
Is it possible, that omega drivers take more power,or heat more ,causing strain?

Then now,my card shows artifacts irrespective, of os,driver, both win 98/xp,is it possible that my 300watts stated ps is now performing at a lower watt?

Also, using ati tool however less may i reduce the speed(something that is possible),artifacts persists.

Also,my screen is going into red, blue etc colours in the form of dots at some places after some times, also, sometimes the dots move along with my mouse cursor, when they appear on the desktop,if i open another page they may go and when i see the desptop again after minimizing the page many a times they persist.

Please help,i am thinking of getting the card ram, built by ati,I live in indai but bought card from usa and would like to know the procedure.
Is it possible that they would give me a 128mb x700pro/xt or x800 in return?
I don't mind pci-e.
Please help.

dood.. this is heights!! u already have an open thread running for the very same problem.. dont create threads for the heck of it.. have u even checked the other thread and what ppl have suggested you do to check what's wrong with ur rig?

COnsider this a warning..
