e-Q5 = e-Q7 with a bit less mids and a bit more treble at a good discounted price. But as Benny said, it'd lack the bass quantity.

SM3 is something different. It's engaging and detailed at the same time. But I am not sure about the bass quantity.

Monster Miles Davis is something a bass-head might want.

If you are looking for something different from Westone 3 i.e., can sacrifice bass quantity, look at SM3, e-Q5 in that order, else look at MMDT.

If you wish me lot of luck, I'll be able to give you proper personal opinions on one or more of them before you decide to buy ;)

@sankdeep. hgh end customs are better you know. , you will be happy to be stuck with them forever. its not that you sell your stuff to free up cash (do you? , i mean people on head-fi do. you will never see people selling JH13/16, saying that they dont like them or its not their taste they sell it to free up cash )

you can also look at the FX700, iam loving them i mean the bass is superb yet, never too much ( cause the mid bass is in check)
SM3 is great option, though i am not much interested in the MMDT.e-Q5/7 both look promising ...th new grado as well (gr10).
you can look at the DBA-02 also ( if you can live with its signature)
re262, IF you are OK with the laid back treble they offer. otherwise they have great sound.
 
e-santosh i will always ask audio gurus before i buy.. u guys have lot of experience...me just loving the westone 3 it has everything i wanted..slam of bass, smooth midrange .clarity.. westone for life
 
Your next upgrade doc should be something that would overpower any iem, and that is a good HP rig.
PC -> Music Streamer II -> A good Amp -> Headphone XxX :) :D :)
 
i love iems more than hp:S...i dont know why i feel uncomfortable wearing cans:ashamed:...i have planned to get a bass head iem sometime later ..monster miles davis tribute or copper:ohyeah:... just bought a car so need to do some savings..:P
 
@ sankhdeep ...if portability is an issue ...get both ..one for portable other for desktop use !

am not saying that HPs are better , just some thing are better with HPs and some things with IEMs. earlier i had the impression that for a 20K desktop setup one has to buy a portable setup of ...60K . that has changed now with FX700 :D

^ Nah nothing that requires too much amping :P uDAC should suffice for now .Maybe a uDAC II /Audinst in future or a Streamer + amp if I like it after trying it .

Is it a Grado? or a A900? Maybe its a W5000 like decent boi? :D

Btw my Music Streamer II drives my HD650 very well just by itself. The only thing it can't drive is my YH-100. :(

So in my book, the Music Streamer II is now better than the uDAC at least as the amp on the Music Streamer is more powerful than the one on the udac as the udac couldn't drive the HD650. :D
 
^ You confuse me. Isn't MS2 only a DAC? Then how come it's amp section is better? :S

MS2 is better than uDAC-1 though!
 
Well Benny suggested I connect it directly to the HD650 with a RCA female -> 3.5mm female adapter and control the volume through Windows.

I tried the HD650 just for fun to see how bad that combo would sound and I got shocked on hearing the output ! :O

Why don't you also try it out ? It won't work that well with your orthos as orthos require insane amount of current but it will work perfectly with your IEMs and other headphones.
 
If I understand correctly, the RCA out of MS2 would be like a pure line out. In that case, it should have more output power than the always-volume-controlled uDAC-1. I don't think I have RCA-3.5 Female, but I've a bundle of cables.. so may be there's one :ashamed:
