Burnout Dominates PS2, PSP - PlayStation 2 News at GameSpot

New Burnout announced for Ps2 and PSP!

Back in late August, Electronic Arts confirmed what everyone expected--the Burnout series would continue with a new installment on next-generation consoles. However, those unable to pony up for the higher-priced Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles felt as though they were being left in the dust.

It turns out the console the franchise debuted on, the PlayStation 2, isn't being passed over. Today, Electronic Arts announced the development of Burnout Dominator, exclusively for the PS2 and the PlayStation Portable.

The game will retain the core gameplay of the series, as players will race at top speeds through dozens of World Tour events testing "reckless skill-based" driving techniques. Currently there are no plans for the versions for each platform to interact with each other.

Burnout Dominator is currently development at EA's studios in Guildford, UK (also known as Criterion Games) and will be released in 2007. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's exclusive Q&A with senior producer Nick Channon.

Keep this up and Ps2 will still pwn all next-gen consoles in sales even by end 2007.

And this pretty screen comes with the news :

Game Charts sales wise in Australia :

Aussie game charts: December 11-17 - PlayStation 2 News at GameSpot

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess's reign at the top of the Australian game sales chart has proved to be short-lived. After debuting at number one last week, the Wii's flagship title has slipped to seventh spot in this week's charts, with WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 for the PS2 reclaiming the top position.

Twilight Princess was the only Wii title to crack the overall game sales top 10 for the week of December 11 to December 17, according to data trackers GfK Australia. PlayStation 2 games continue to dominate the charts, with WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 and Need for Speed Carbon maintaining their strong runs of the past month by landing in at first and second positions, respectively. Apart from Twilight Princess, only two other non-PS2 titles made the overall top 10--The Sims 2: Pets for PC and the Xbox 360's Gears of War.

Sweet. We can keep on talking about Ps3 vs X360 vs Wii and blah blah, while the Ps2 continues to heavily dominate the International videogame market.

Even in U.S, stores are reporting good Ps2 sales because of Christmas.

Anyways, I just noticed...we're going to be needing a new thread : 2007 Edition :D

Edit : UK Game Charts : And the FIFA 2007, NFS Carbon lead, both Ps2 versions.

God Of War 2 : freakin' 9.7/10 from IGN!!

IGN: God of War II Review

God of War II may in fact be the best action game ever made. It outdoes the original God of War in every way, even if only by a tiny bit as the first was so good to begin with. It's an evolutionary step rather than a revolutionary leap, but it has basically perfected the formula that the original set up. If you own a PlayStation 2 (or PS3) and don't mind excessive amounts of blood, you absolutely must play this game. If you don't own a PS2, find someone who does and sit yourself down in front of their TV for 12 or so hours as you'll otherwise be missing out on one of gaming's most intense and engaging experiences available.

Its amazing Ps2 is still doing this on its deathbed!
