KMD would be getting HDT 1283 in a few days, he's given a price quote of Rs.2400.

So i'm contemplating which has better VFM, HDT or Freezer.

Freezer comes with a decent fan + A 775 Bracket

Here is a very nice review of freezer

bit-tech.net | Review - Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer

the Xigmatek needs a different retention bracket for 775 afaik.. you need to buy one separately. it comes wiht a good fan. Bling fan, might i add.. unlike the freezer

the CCF's fan is supposed to be a wee bit loud at full blast. it comes with retention mechanism for both amd and intel platforms.

the question is.. with a 600 buck difference; why would anyone NOT go for the CCF over the Xigmatek especially with the CCF faring slightly better than the Xigmatek as far as performance is concerned

^^Xigmatek has the usual push-pins for lga775 with an optional bolt through kit if you want to buy it seperately

btw, how do you pay if you buy from prime??

Read the conclusion of the review.
Anyways, I'd choose freezer with closed eyes over the xigmatek. 4 heat pipes in a better deisgn unlike the flop show, HDT 1284. Plus you get a tube of Tuniq TX2.
Well if pushpins were a problem, I'd buy 4 long screws with wingnuts andsprings and use them. Wont cost more than 25 rupees. However I cant say that this is better since I dont have a 775 platform and I dont intend to have one in the near future.

that line was in context with LGA775. Me happy with my TRU, does <38* with GRID playing, totally passive :bleh:

Ur talking about the Red Scorpian 1283 and Achillis HDT S1284

the regular HDT S1283 doesnt come with a led fan.

uhh ohh? it doesnt?

i thought gannu had ordered the normal 1283

ps- wasnt red scorpion supposed to be a totally diff cooler? something from Rosewill afaik

Hmmm, I was contemplating getting a OCZ Vendetta 2 (costs 2550). But the Sunbeam CCF at just over 2000 is awesome.

According to reviews, CCF > Vendetta 2 > Xigmatek 1283

The problem with both Xigmatek 1283 and 1284 is the mount.

On 1284 it creates slightly more issue. The 1284 has bigger base than 1283. Its wider. That has reduced the length of the push pin arms on 1284. And those are straight and in default state it means poor contact with the chip with 1284 resulting in bad temps.

All you need to do is carefully bend the push pin legs slightly up before fixing them on the cooler. This ensures good pressure. With this slight tweak, I am able to get better temps than TRUE with both 1283 and 1284. And 1284 loves high cfm fan ;)

But just slight bend in push pin legs resulted in 6C drop in temp with Xigmatek 1284 which is huge.

@ mr47 Check this out.

Are you sure the Vendetta 2 is much larger than the others? It is after all based on the Xigmatek 1283 and I believe all three coolers weigh approx 600 gms.
P.S: I can edit my posts! Woohoo

if talking abt dimensions, Ultima 90i beats all :D

OCed E2140 to 3464, E6600 to 4050, E6850 to 4200Mhz, passed insane high volts. It gives superb performance. :cool2:

I was holding out for Ultima (since long time actually), but I think if CCF is coming with such nice package at such low cost.. I just found a great replacement for Ultima90.

So which of these would be the best in terms of performance and cost..

1. OCZ Vendetta 2

2. Xigmatek 1283

3. Sunbeam CCF

4. Thermalright Ultima 90
