Hmmm

Seconds RX135 5speed - 20K

Decent portjob, RDD CDI, rebore, restoration, etc etc - 15K

for 35K u have a ZMA ass-whooper. now, whats better?

i dunno my one of a fellow doctor friend got a 8 years old yamaha bike white colored its 140 cc or 160.
IT REALLY KICKS SOMW REAL ASS IT HAS SUCH A GOOD ACCELERATION AND RUNING SMOOTH ALL THE WAY its a 2 stroke i think it someone of the rx series.
looks soooooooo effin cool white colored written in red "yamaha".

yeah..... awesome bike that was..... came with discs and all.... the only sad thing abt that is the handling...

@Sunny ---- You are somewhat right abt the 35K Zma whopper.... but do you know that bikes need to go round corners as well :P

No Nikhil it will go around corners very well as good as a Kari. Consider me, I cannot afford to have two bikes so I use the same bike for commuting as well as for the occasional track day. Come track day, remove everything from the bike and ride around the track. Maybe I have not explored the limits of it, but I can confidently say it goes around very well. Of course the condition of the tyres and suspension settings do matter as to how much you can push it in a corner.

I know that Vignesh :D .

But generally, the Yams are quite outdated and do not perform as well as the newer bikes on stock.....

Biker boy Nikhil-

I really look forward to such gems from you, like the ones in this thread and others on similar lines before this one!!:ohyeah:

I wonder why we like to buy A64/Opty and OC them, give them more juice, produce more heat, make them critically stable, rather than buy an FX or the likes, which do similar speeds at lower volts maybe, run stable w/o issues and maybe dissipate lesser heat too!!:@

How many- makes and units- bikes have you peg-scraped till date SIR??:cool2:

none actually :P

I have nothing against RXs... probably just a bit of envy that I can never talk abt riding an RX in firts person like you guys do :(

But I did ride my neighbours RXZ with discs and 5 speed tranny..... It was awesome!!!

But I personally felt that bike felt unsteady in the corners.... not just a left turn.... It was one of those roundabouts.... I take it at abt 40-50 on my Pulsar..... and at that speed, it feels very very steady.

But on my neighbour's RXZ, it dodnt give the confidence..... Somehow, I didnt have the confidence to lean further.

And yeah, I know buying a cheap bike and modding it gives a thrill.... I never said so otherwise :D

BUT BUT BUT... buying a cheap MODERN bike and modding it gives a bigger thrill...

Can you imagine an RXZ with fat tyres to improve grip and some major mods to be able to match up to a P180 or Karizma AND give a decent mileage in the range of 35kmpl??

I doubt it......

Please note : I am not saying that RXs suck.... faaar from it.... just saying that today these bikes are outdated...... simple as that .

EDIT: I am not as learned as you Rishi ji :P Please correct me wherever I have erred..... But from my limited knowledge abt bikes, I dont think you can get an RX with P180/Zma beating potential not only in a straight line but alos in corners and still give 35+..... BTW, this 35 kmpl mileage is my personal experience in a P180DTSi.... forget the Zma as of now :P

RX are far better than 4 jokes when it comes to cornering :) most ppl dont know how to ride a RX. they shift at 5-6K RPM when the powerband starts at 5-5.5K RPM :| when going fast, i never shift anywhere below 8K+ RPM

actually, got bike rebored on friday. ripping it from monday. Did somethin real frightening lol...entry into corner @ 4.5K RPM, 40KMPH. exit @ arnd 75, well above 7K RPM...man, its thrilling.

Ever heard of 90/90 Zapper Qs? Gives hell lot better grip than any 120 tires.

Whats new abt modern bikes? DTS-i maybe new..but what else is new? lol. The stupid exhaustec...its just using a resonator box [forgot exact term] on the exhaust. Been used in TVS XLs since a long time. SNS? its a joke. Most engine parts are similar to the CD100, so no difference tehre either. Some gr8 bike modder said that even with the best mods to a CBZ (head mods, port jobs, exhausts, etc...) it wont give more than 14BHP. If yo try it on a P180, it'll hardly give 18 or maxxxx 19.

just saying that today these bikes are outdated...... simple as that .

i spent ummm...a lil bit for a Digital CDI. Suddenly i have lots better technology, performance, mileage, etc than all other. No other bike comes close to the tech which is present in the CDI.

hmm...... I guess what you say is true... but you did avoid this.... my conclusion :P

And also, doing all these mods are a bit risky.... I mean, it is like oc'ing.... it could be unstable. So, your bike might end up spending quite a lot of time in the workshop :P .... and for me at least, that is just not possible to live with ..... I need my bike everyday. EVERY SINGLE day..... I cannot afford to have my bike out of commission for so long.

get it done properly. nothing will happen.

I have a P180 beater, not a ZMA beater. gave me 35-38odd before rebore. will give similar to that after i lean down the engine to normal levels.

EDIT :

Went to mech @ 10.15. Stripped my engine @ 10.45. Work finished @ 1.30. Rode bike to college, million places and to meet TheMask all in a single day. Rode something like 60KMs in a space of 7 hours. Completed 100 KM run in on saturday. Reliability eh? :P

aah looking at u sunny .. i wish i had a good mech at my place :( to do all this for me.

gr8 job mate. enjoy.

Nikhil ji-
I am least learned in this field- else why would i meet with an accident on an empty strech of road, at 40kmph!!

And once you had claimed that the P180 is very good in handling and people fell coz they tried to exceed their own limit!!:P

Being used to one make, its not easy, rather impossible to shift to another and achieve the same insantly!!

I am sure you wouldn't have competitively tackled roundabouts the day you started riding!!
No wonder you had a tough time adjusting to a lighter m/c, viz, your neighbour's RXZ!!

Also a regular street going m/c though seemingly fine in all respects may not have the right suspension quality, tyres, etc to handle imaculately for anyone to generalise on the make!!
Even new Bikes from the same lot vary quite a bit!!:@

FYI, the first thing i had to do on my 4 days old RX 135 is an oil change+stiffening in the front forks and stiffening the rear!!
How i discovered that is one long story in itself- but i did manage to break my front number plate and that was it!!
The entire lot of Aug98 RX 135s had low oil in the front forks but the showroom people were not keen to help!!:@
Only one of the main dealers admitted to that and helped all customers!!:hap2:

And it requires much more Throttle control to handle a bike with more thrust/acceleration in every gear!!:cool2:

The RXs were the most forgiving and sought after by learners in the entire world, yes, the entire world!!:ohyeah:
Especially coz they lean so well, w/o any effort on the rider's part!!:P

So i hope that answers abt the 'RX do not lean' myth that you have!!

And even a pro RX racer will crash a shogun on his first ride on the track!!
The shogun is only as good as the rider!!:cool2:

The Yams lean themselves, the shogun has to be forced into submission!!

And stock bikes- basically all are commuters in India- are designed to give an even spread of power/torque to tackle the various situations one may encounter!!
A highly tuned bike is made to run in its much narrower powerband and its the rider's skill to keep it there at all times!!

I sincerely hope you meet one of the TVS factory bikes at 110kmph odd and you will understand what i mean by THRUST!!
Those things take of like mad in their top gear, making it look like an RX overtaking some moped in the first gear!!:cool2:

And why am i even speaking about mileage- most pals who tried to use my bike after my crash, returned it in days!!
Coz they said it was a car on two wheels!!:@
25+ kmpl!!

And i was used to doing daily use + intercity on that!!
Didn't know that cars, public transport existed!!:cool2:

And these same people dream of owning a Ninja, R1 or the Busa!!

Yeah, but my expenditure on my babies meant less partying!
Coz i would spend more time at the garage!!:P
And even went to parties in the same greasy jeans!!:ashamed:
And it sure helped not to have any of my pal's extra 'shauk', viz. booze, smokes, GFs!!:ashamed:

And me had enough spares- all purchased new, no 2nd hand stuff- to build myself a 'b**ch' bike, if such a term exists!!:cool2:
And it was all from parttime job at the garage, savings from pocket money and Bday money- not borrowed from parents- i used to survive college in just 4 pairs of jeans!!
Stll have some of that for maintaining existing bikes!!

And a rider is only as good as the 'kms' on his 'ODO'!!:cool2: :cool2:

I've had VERY bad experiences with different mechs. found a very good one now.

But i still prefer to do the things myself. The only thing holding me back is a set of sockets n wrenches. Once i get it, can do all the engine work by myself @ home. :ohyeah:

2 weeks back changed my cat con to the RX1000 pipe, man was that hard work!!! didnt have sockets or T for it, had to use spanners. 2 inch long threads, can loose only 1/3 at each twist. removing n putting those bolts back took an hour. 3-4 mins @ mechs fcoz of T n sockets.

Ohhh Man.....this thread is sure going places.....

The thread which I started for TVS Apache's Song ,AD & the Bike(Ofcourse..:bleh: ) has now left it and has reached to RX,P180,ZMA......& many more...:ohyeah:
