On top of that maha confusion about the runtime of the movie. Now that explains one of the questions i had asked when i started this thread :bleh:

Thanks for writing all this which I had been longing to write since long but didn't get time (bored).targetblimp said:i tend to disagree with most of the forum members here. well i think the movie was really great....its been a long time since i have seen a good hindi movie that goes as deep as love aaj kal. it is very different from the shallow, comedy crap that bollywood seems to be churning out these days....
i think everybody went to the theater expecting another 'jab we met' from imtiaz ali, but he has done a u-turn making a movie about-
- just how confusing and messy love can be in these times, a huge contrast to the previous generations....thats where the old gold story fits in.
-how afraid the modern generation really is of commitment, and the lengths they go to avoid or ignore it.
-how true love always prevails no matter how tough or weird the circumstances may be....
******SPOILER ALERT********
-i agree the early transitions were a little confusing.....but it was done mainly to depict how saif and deepika believe their relationship is all fun( the break-up party being a perfect example), not realizing they have fallen in love, and how quickly and easily they were ready to give up everything for a lil inconvenience( a long distance relationship).
but then they cant get over each other( the transition from the airport to delhi with deepika talking tells how they cant stop talking to each other) and how hard each one tries to forget the other.....
-the story between saif and deepika is exactly what love is to some people- complicated and confusing......both seem to be confused about their feelings for each other till the 'oh! shit!!' realization moment i.e- they love each other. for saif it was when he moves to San Francisco and has his dream job but still feels his life is missing something. for deepika it was, unfortunately, on her honeymoon!
i agree deepika can hardly act...but the director somehow manages to squeeze some juice out of her. i think he was right when he said that only deepika was right for the role...plus shes looking AMAZING!!!!
its a very real and interesting take on the young generation, their love and everything that comes with it.....
