try shops other than prime man :)
assemble it yourself by collecting parts from wherever u get them cheap :)
Any suggestions? :)

Buying in bits and parts from different shops is not a very smart way to shop.

And then run around to distros when in need of rma? :)
A lot of shops sell a bit cheaper, especially those who don't keep stocks but make 10 calls to 10 different shops and get the items.
While selling, they will proclaim loudly that mobo has 3 yrs warranty, etc etc.
Go for rma and they will give you the address of the distro/rma centre.
And when you deal with the distro as an individual, the response depends on your luck than when the rma request goes from the dealer who is a big player in sales of the same product.

Like recently someone found out that a dealer has 3-4 branches, 15 different numbers but all are dead.
And the sales people/owner stop answering your calls to avoid your rma.
IMHO, one should scout as many shops as possible, get rates from all.
As someone has RAM cheaper but cpu/mobo priced higher and someone else the other way round.
Else ask aorund and get rates from people who have purchased recently if not possible to run around all over lammy.
We also have the Lammy price update thread now which is fairly good.
Summarise and prepare one list/config with lowest quotes for each item.
Approach a reputed and reliable dealer, known to be prompt and responsible in rma, and bargain with the lowest price for each items.
Given and taken some bucks here or there, and the final amount spent is usually the same or a lil more or maybe lil less depending on how good you negotiate.

Cheapest is not always best. :)
And once a rapport is built-up with one good dealer, you do get decent rates most of the times.
Also some dealers deal in goods without a bill.
How am i to rely if the stuff they provide is genuine or is genuinely one that has local warranty, esp RAM, as has happened to many in the past.
For that such reason, i only shop at Prime or Mnemonics.
Prices are at times a bit higher than most other shops or at times, a bit lower too- win some and lose some.
But overall it has worked quite similar to full quotes from others.
They do not deal in anything w/o a bill, be it an extension wire.
Prime has a separate shop+staff to handle rma only.
Both have never made me run around for rma, even going out of the way by handling rma/repair in special cases and have been quite prompt with the same depending on the response from the main distro.
Funky sir has similar and better reasons to shop only at Mnemonics. :)
Each to his own and all the best to everyone. :hap2:

+1 for PRIME ..those guys are really helpful . even helped me out in RMA'in my ep-630 which wasnt even bought from PRIME. and that saved my atleast 2 extra trips to lammy.even Bikey and XT helped me out in this..i owe a big thanks to them :).

A crap, the IP 35 E doesn't have IDE connectors.I have an IDE HDD and a DVD RW drive. What other alternative are there?

^ Are u sure? ;)

Internal I/O

- 1 x Floppy Port supports up to 2.88 MB

- 1 x ATA 133/100/66/3 IDE connector

- 4 x SATA 3Gb/s connector

- 4 x USB header (support 8 ports)

- 1 x FP-Audio

Also, you can get the MSI P45 Neo which is available for around 6.5k, among the cheapest boards using P45 chipset.

Hell, it feels like its been 3 years:bleh:

buy:

Intel Q6600 (Q9450 preferred)

MSI P45 Neo

Transcend 4 x 2GB ddr2 800 ram

Corsair VX450

Ati 4850

VX 450? isn't that cutting in a little too close? especially after Mr.Bikie's post?

For now, I guess ill stick to 4GB.The Q9450 is over my budget, I'd consider it if it weren't 6k more.Even the MSI P45 Neo has just 1 IDE connector, won't that be a problem? And if necessary can I do some OC'ing with that board? And, 4850? are you sure?

Yes it does have an IDE connector.

It has ONE connector, not 3.How am I supposed to manage a hdd and a drive with one slot?

1. The VX450 is more than suffecient for your purpose. and that is exactly what Bikey has been trying to tell you time and again. Let me try to put it in a simple comparison for you..

The Coolermaster Extreme 600 - Rs 3.3k

The Corsair VX450 - Rs 3.3k

now, are you telling me that Coolermaster actually has a product which is 33% better than the corsair at exactly the same price point? something has to be wrong here right?

just get the VX450.

read ---> http://www.techenclave.com/870595-post17.html

and if ur just too lazy to click and read

Mere baap- A CM extreme power 600 costs 3k odd, VX450 costs 3K odd.

This topic has been dicussed to death and beyond.

Read this thread thoroughly and you will undertstand why VX450 is enough and CM600 is relatively crap.

HD 3870 on a VIP 400W (27A @ 12V)

(And he who asked powersafe 500W single rail is enough doubts Corsair VX450 is pretty ironic. You have a lot to learn about PSUs- esp rails, power and power distribution. )

Just becoz you are an old member here- for you one last time.

VX450 has almost all the power on its 12v rails + Corsair rates it pretty conservatively + its more than 80% efficient against 65-70% of cheapo psus.

So going by how CM or other cheapo PSUs manufs label their PSU, its easily a 550-600W if you want to rate it that way.

Read that thread in the link above and all other posts in preceeding and following pages as well- please.

And i said VX450 is minimum- knowing it will run a Q66+IP+4GB+4850+2xHDD+2xODD+2-3x120mm fans pretty fine.

Else get a Corsair TX650/HX620 and throw anything at it- similar to CM or other brand 700-850W- 6K+ odd.

If you are really smart, you won't scrimp on the PSU- that's a challenge.

2. Ocing shouldnt be an issue(or so i assume considering how well the other P45 boards have been doing).. though htere is a dearth of reivews on the net for this particular board. i would suggest upping your board budget a lil bit and getting the asus p5q for arnd 8k.

3. If you are getting the gfx locally then dont look beyond the 4850 for around 11k all inclusive. if you are looking to get it from newegg then i would also suggest that you consider the 9800gtx+ for around the same cost... 200USD..

4. you can connect 2 devices to 1 IDE port.

no it is more than sufficient

1 IDE can connect 2 devices

MSI P45 Neo can OC a little

for 1440x900 4850 will be enough

hdd as master & dvdrw as slave on one cable as one cable has two connectors

don't expect any good c2d motherboard with two ide connectors now

Yes, I DO know you can connect 2 devices but, first understand my problem, how am I supposed to use one cable to connect 2 devices. especially a HDD and a Drive, it would have been easier if it were either 2 Drives or 2 HDD's.

9800GTX+? Why do you suggest that?Doesn't the 4850 outperform it in most benches?

Not really..

they are pretty neck and neck with the 4850 winning out at higher resos with aa and af enabled.

what does count as a positive for the 98gtx+ though is the lower heat nd wattage figures... it'll basically run a lil cooler nd consume a lot less power.

Then what would be ideal for 14x9?Also taking into consideration my case, I don't think the gtx+ would fit.
