Budget 41-50k Upgrade pathway for a Ryzen APU in a 4K rig

Currently in the process of buying a new rig.
I had in my mind decided to purchase a Ryzen 3600 but since that would require a graphics card immediately I'm now considering getting a 3400 since the GPU market is so bad. I'm considering getting a RTX 3080 in the future.

How much worse would a 3400g be compared to a 3600 if paired with a RTX 3080 in a 4k gaming rig?

Will it be able to handle video output outside of games at that resolution in the interim?

3400g is 4c/8t .. not enough now.. definitely not recommended going forward.

Look at the 4650g.. very similar in performance to the 3600.. same price. But you'll need a A520 or a B550 board for it.

get a 3600 and used 10 series card (under 15k) ,if you intend to game at 4 k processor wont matter you can even go for ryzen 1700 as at 4k its all gpu bound untill you play fps

3400g can handle 4k video easily , won't even need a gpu for 4k videos
Yeah I'm thinking for waiting for the RTX 3080 to be easily available.

Currently Ryzen 4650G is cheaper than a Ryzen 3600.

Considering it might take another 8-10 months to get RTX 3080 or TI easily would it be better to get a 4650G instead of getting a 10 series card?

How about if I get a Ryzen 4650G for 17k and a B550 MoBo for around 8k instead of a 3600+B450+10 series card. Will it do me well till I get my hands on an RTX 3080?

Dont go the APU route if you are looking to upgrade to a dedicated GPU card in the future.

I had done this mistake in the past and the CPU/APU ended becoming a bottleneck for the dedicated card.

The 4650g is pretty powerful.. its not the same as the puny APUs of old.

3080 is expensive.. if you dont want to/cant spend that now, but need the CPU power now, 4650g is not bad.
You can spend ~7k extra to get a 3600 and a bare bones 1030 to pair with it.. a little less if you get it used.. (a cheaper card wont support 4k 60)
You can then sell it for a bit when you upgrade to the 3080..

Extra work .. + about 5k down..

Its your call..

If you can afford the 3080 now, its a no brainer.. go for it now. If you cant and dont need an upgrade.. wait.. get it together when you can. Everything will almost certainly get cheaper.

If you want a new CPU but cant afford the dGPU now.. 4650g is perfectly fine.

Anandtech did a review. You can look at the charts .. hover over -High Resolution Low Quality- to see the difference at 4k when paired with a 2080ti

This was my main worry. I don't know how long I'll be without a dedicated GPU.

Is a 4650G a considerably worse chip compared to a 3600x? Because even if I get a used 3600x I'm not likely to get it for too much cheaper than a brand new 4650G.

first decide at what resolution you are going to play and what you are going to play at 4k even a ryzen 1700 is within 2 fps of the top dogs ,it will take hit in cpu bound games

Would definitely suggest against 3400g, it's based on zen+ instead of zen 2 despite what the 3000 naming might suggest, plus it has x8 PCIe lanes for dedicated GPU which could definitely bottleneck something like a RTX 3080.
Something like 3600 is much better, and just get a cheap used GPU (like GTX 1050/960 etc.) and sell it when you buy RTX 3xxx

Or you can go intel route if you want, i5 10600k is around 20-21k rn.
