Looks like you have similar needs like me:

I know you are on a low budget but Still I would suggest you to go for a 80 plus efficiency PSU. if you want to save, save on cabby. buy any generic cabinet which is big and has proper air flow.

IMHO E5300 is overkill, used E21XX @ 1.8-2k~ is good VFM.

CM Elite 334 is POS @ 2.4k, bundled fans are leaf blowers. U will regret buying Elite 33X + better fans over stock Antec 300 (3.8k).

CM 310 @ 1.6k or Zebronics Bijli is the best bet.

+1 to sidhu suggestion get used pentium E2xxx chip for about ~2k but dont compromise on PSU...:) if psossible get MO stepping...

E5200-3k

Gigabyte G31ES2L-2.4k

Transcend 2GB 800 MHz DDRII-2k

Zebby Bijili-1.1k

Zebronics Pro 350w-1.5k/SagaII 350w-1.6k

You can fit this in a 10k budget. Go for a good PSU with 75-80% efficiency esp. considering this a DL rig. Why buy a used CPU when you can afford a new one. Better go for a E5xxx just bcoz you can have 3yrs warranty.Will come in handy as you plan to keep it for 5yrs. Upgrade to HD4350~1.8k or some equivalent card in the future(may be HD5350:D)

The rig will fine without needing a un-necessary good psu :P . Trust me, you don't need it if you're going to think it's going to run fine. All this talk of PSU's overrated here . Half of the machines run well without needing a 1.5K psu. It's not a necessity unless you're going to load it up with various hardware like graphics card. c. The OP doesn't want to/doesnt have the budget to spend on a good psu. My friend's still running his AMD setup with WD 640 AAKS and a 160GB hdd on a local brand 450w. If it blows up then it's your bad luck :P. No need to enforce anything on the OP :)

It is not about more power it is about clean reliable power, unfortunately we don't have good 80+ efficient PSUs with only 250-300 wattage like the ones which are in dell's optiplex series for e.g. Running a high end gpu rig with a coolermaster xtreme power VS with VX450 makes a difference of sometimes Rs. 1000 in monthly electricity bills. I know OOP won't ever game, low WATTAGE but reliable PSUs never make into the indian market even if they do they are charged very high as all other computer items are. The ultimate decision what to buy is something OP has to decide and he wont buy an expensive psu i know :rofl:

psu - will take from the local shop - Rs350 :P :P

my budget has already gone way over its 13k plus something as of now

will be buying a new luminous or micrtotal 625 VA ups another 1.8-2k

if i add a psu then its almost 17k lol

You are going to spend total 2.2k on Branded Cabby+ Desi PSU, well I would suggest you to inter change branded with Desi i.e Desi Cabby+Branded PSU Gigabyte Superb 460W.

1. Desi cabby without SMPS with provision of 120MM on front and rare @ 500/-

2. Gigabyte Superb 460W @ 2.2-2.3k

You wont regret purchase and 400-500 excess budget will be covered in two electricity bills :D

Hi,

Its more or less. Same as yours

* Intel E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz LGA 775 CPU

* GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

* OCZ 2GB DDR2 800MHz Titanium Edition Memory(I was looking for ECC memory, but didn't find one:P)

* Seasonic SII 380W PSU

1months later,

I also added Palit Geforce 9600 GPU

The Rig works perfectly stable. CPU idles on 34C. I download lots of torrents and keep my machine on for weeks. It runs on Linux. check the Last Time I rebooted/turned off my PC.

Code:
$ uptime

 08:23:21 up 14 days, 18:05,  1 user,  load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

If you are planning to use this 24/7(Always ON) like me. Trust me getting a Server grade PSU will increase the stability and reliability of your rig.

for normal desktop use, your config will do fine with generic PSU but don't add any graphic card and any other power hog. else it would cause problems.

This is exactly what i've been trying to explain this thick skinned rhino :lol:

Mohit get a good psu u will never regret, even if you dad pays your electricity bills and u don't have to worry about paying the bill, the added security and reliability u will get with a good psu as suggested by experienced members above is worth paying the extra money u are willing to spend on a cabinet, if u are so low on budget then U can also use open air PC (keep all components on table) and buy a good cabinet next month OR buy a cheap local cabinet now, during winters u won’t need much cooling buy a good psu and then buy a very good cabinet in summers when u will really need cooling!

ok

i have got the 2gb DDR2 ram @ 800Mhz

so wats the cost of that seasonic 380w psu

and from where shud i buy that

i can find it locally at my place

i have decided to buy the seagate 7200.12 500 gb hdd, the money saved can be used for buying a good psu

can ADD HDD later after 7-8 months also i m not gonna fill 1TB in that much time :P
