Hi Folks,

I am looking to buy a USB powered ADSL Modem (it should run without external power supply) for BSNL broadband

Its for my work@home on laptop and to shield from powercuts

Please suggest me the models available in market and their prices...

Regards

Thanks both...will this modem be usable for BSNL

Also, anything like this can be found in Indian retail from Dlink, Huawai etc...

OK.. do you want a USB powered dial-up Modem :bleh: ?

Its for the broadband connection but setup in bridged mode...so i use a dialler, whenever i want to be connected

Just be carefull when buying these modems.

The one listed here has drivers for XP only.

Incase u upgrade to Vista, and the modem manufacturer does not release Vista drivers,ur stuck with a DUD

good thing about external modems is they connect via LAN cable and hence

do not need drivers

why do you need a usb powered modem, just get a spike guard and connect a normal modem.

^ Look at the Amazon link posted above duh!

Yes dude, I have seen that...but I am not sure, if it can be configured to BSNL...Also AFAIK KMD doesnt deal with UK unless i am mistaken

Perhaps some generic model at Indian market which does the job would be fine also
