Unless stability is critical, quadros can be skipped...These days all cards support occlusion...way back some didnt...

He could have got 2 x Quadro FX 1500 for that money , but as we know that lacks the raw power of the Ultras...Unless you have too many lights hitting various varied sources in a DCC or CAD program the ultras will pull way ahead of the mid level quadros...even then it would be close considering the raw lugging power of the Ultras...

Maybe he will have to deal with a crash or two more...The other problem is if you use a card like Ultra in a prog which states the card as "not qualified" and submit a bug, then they may not take u as seriously as you may want...but gud purchase neverthless...

Gaming is an added(big) bonus...:p

None of those are concerns... the cards wont be used for DCC or CAD or any commercial program. Its purely for realtime rendering and pushing a lot of polygons. The only programs that'd be running are my own, so if it crashes, its my fault... :rofl:. Yes the gaming is a big added bonus.
