Well .... i was about to get a new graphic card , a 8800gtx , when i thoght why not spend the same money for a ps3 ???? Coz in my opinion , the ps3 gaming hardware life is much larger than a graphic cards , plus it gives u a hell lot of other features........
Well , am i thinking in the correct direction ???? And when will the PS3 release here ??? and what will its release price be ???? Will it be better to get it from UK or US ???? Coz ive heard it might hav region problems......
 
yeah it will be much more life -( large variety of games the PC gamers enjoy + FPS games cos they simply suck when played with controllers + no upgradability)

I guess u kno basic maths and can figure what i said above
 
i dunno...i guess u meant that the PC has a much better life than ps3 ...... yeah FPS do suck ob consoles...... but overall the console gameing gives a better experience , doesnt it ?????? i can always go for amid range dx10 card and a ps3 nd njoy both ........
 
N yea phoenix..........Wise Choice I must say, BUT 2007-2008 = The Best Years for PC gamers so investing in the 8800GTX is also not a bad choice IMHO ;)

After it releases in Europe/Australia. I bought a real copy of GT4, behind the instruction manuel, there was a poster of Ps3, below it said "MILESTONE" and "COMING SOON".

Milestone also brought Ps2 to India, but never advertised it.

In any case, I guess Ps3 Units will make their way to India stores (like Palika Bazaar in Delhi) around a week or two after European Release (March 28).

Only if it costs you cheaper than in India, then yes. Ps3 is region free.

Want to buy a ps3 then be prepared to dish out around Rs.4000-5000 per game title.

Maybe, maybe not. X360 titles cost 59.99 in US, cost avg Rs.2500 in India.

Ps3 titles will also cost 59.99, so I guess it'll be cheaper instead if we can ship it across from Ebay to prevent the bloated prices here, if there is.

PC vs PS3

PC

Pros : Modifications, excellent in Simulation Genre, RTS (AoE, CoH, Warcraft etc), FPS, MMORPG, always next-gen. Has World Of Warcraft.

Cons : the most expensive form of gaming, good lack of big-name franchises (some of them show up with a severe time delay. For eg : Halo, Re4, GeOW), Compability issues, BSoD's, hard drive and related errors that trouble PC gamers on a daily basis. Don't offer mobility which consoles offer.

PS3

Pros : Contradictory to popular belief, it has a gigantic library. Consisting of all hits released on the original Playstation, Playstation 2, and Ps3 is supposed to last a good while (minimum 5 years, if taking Ps2 into account). Also contradictory to popular belief, FPS's are taking their turn on consoles. Halo3 is the most awaited game on X360, GeOW won GoTY 2006, Resistence in the biggest launch hit on Ps3, go figure, if still not enough, maybe Re4's Awards List will.

Pop and play system. Future proof, has a 1000$ Blu-Ray player built in. Ps3 will be the best when it comes to RPG genre. Error Free gaming, no updates, no hardware troubleshooting etc. Linux enables Vlc Media Player and Firefox, nuff said. Best for non-online multiplayer, specially in Beat 'Em Up games which don't exist on PC (WWE, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, DBZ, Virtua Fighter, X Men Legends, Ultimate Allianc etc)

Cons : Will be just as expensive as PC gaming for its first year at least, lack of mods (although, creators of Oblivion have stated they plan to bring the mods to Ps3, so this may change), no simulation and RTS genre, just for arguments sake, PC has already outclassed Ps3 when it comes to graphics. Though, make sure you see a Ps3 running on an LCD before you change your mind.

Also, nobody knows how long it will take for Ps3 to get cracked to enable copied games.

There, basics explained *saves to notepad for future* This list would've been much bigger if it were PC vs Consoles though. Wii, X360 put a good amount of pros.

You'll have to decide for yourself. Internet is a big place and there are plenty of good gaming sites like Gamespot, IGN, 1up, Gamepro etc. Navigate through the libraries and upcoming games, make your choice.

i would suggest to get ps3. the titles are costing 2800 - 3300rs here which is a very good price. also the ps3 will last u much longer & give u a lot more choices & give a good flow of quality games unlike pc where usually good games come usually in the 4th quarter.
 
well said param....i guess now its up to you...but remember pure FPS titles like UT, Quake,etc suck on consoles....also the PS graphics are already outclassed by PC and the coming cro of cards from both Nvidia and ATI will bring PS3 to its knees on the graphics front...moreover by the time the games library of PS3( and not PS2) becomes large enough, the PC will be far ahead technologically and graphically specially with games like Crysis, UT2007, Hellgate London, and Bioshock coming up on PC this year itself
 
Yes, but to play all those nice PC games, he'll have to buy another gfx card.

I personally believe that consoles are retarded, but it is probably less retarded to buy a console that a fancy gfx card for your PC.

And when people say FPSes suck on consoles, my take is "thank god".
 
FPS do not suck on consoles. The only people who would say that are the ones that have not tried the Xbox pad. The PS2 pad while good is horrible when it comes to FPSs. The deadzone is terrible and there are no triggers. Plus the sticks are positioned too close together. The same is true for the PS3 pad from what I hear. Except that it has triggers. Horrible ones though.

Yet even having said that I prefer a Mouse and keyboard myself. But only a by a little bit. The satisfaction from squeezing the trigger on the xbox pad is so soooo great.
 
wow......it seems like its gonna be a tough choice.......but my take is that while ill hav to spend the same amount on a gc and a ps3, the ps3 gives me the advantage of real high res gaming (even tho most tvs dont support it ) and the bluray .......... well lesse.....i still hav till jun-jul to think about.......i kno its a bit early to ask all this.but it takes time to convice folks as most people wud kno about it......

u can attach a usb mouse & keyboard to a ps3 & use them perfectly like u do on a pc :)
 
^^ Why are you quoting me? I hate FPSes. Can't stand them after 4 or 5 levels. Too boring and repetitive. Thief doesn't count cause it ain't a shooter.

This is on the PC btw, I was glad that (once upon a time) there weren't too many FPSes on consoles.

I like some 3rd person games though.
 
2-3k wait some more hackers will put games on only thing is that u should have fast net...

yes ps3 graphic look good and they last till next version of ps come out

i too it good ideal to invest in ps3.
 
k....well that tips the balance in the favour of the ps3......now i needed to know that why do these consoles need a hdd ??? wat r they used for ??? r they used for backing up games on it???
