No a sad situation would be that a thief points a gun at you or your family and you cant do anything about that. ( a pepper spray is not going to help you )

Look what im trying to say is that, their culture is different. Forget the culture, US constitution says that people should own guns. Just bcoz you dont agree with it, does not mean that its SAD.

lol thats silly argument. You are not gonna get chance to pull your gun out if one is already pointed @ you. And if you try its surely gonna be blood bath than say a simple robbery.

US constitution gives people right to own a gun. That does not mean its good to own a gun /guns.

Basically what you are saying is that bcoz its legal, we should have more and more guns. And thats exactly what the arms manufacturers many of whom are congressmen bank on.

It is SAD.

Look at our country, we say law and order is pathetic here. But still the crime rate and death by guns / weapons is nowhere close to United states. Do you think our policy to restrict spread of weapons is bad?

See there are 2 things. Right and wrong. Both can be legal. You have a choice, but that does not make wrong right and vice versa.

I gave a bad example. What i wanted to say that you can use your gun to protect yourself and your family and your property.

Correlation does not imply causation. There are no studies which can prove that just bcoz many ppl in the US own guns, there are more crimes.
( Read "where have the criminals gone" chapter in freakonomics, im sure you will love it)

What policy are you talking about?? Have you forgotten about bihar and UP.

Guns dont kill people, people kill people. We can also use cars to kill people, does that mean that we should ban cars.
You can have many laws on gun control but criminals are not going to care. So if the bad guys are going to use their guns anyway why should the good guys remain mute spectators.

Anyway dont forget to read freakonomics "criminal chapter".

PS - I dont own a gun :)

Guns dont kill people, people kill people

That can be applied to cars, weapons or even video games.

IMHO, a gun or a car or infact anything is just a tool. If someone is hell bent on hurting, anything nearby can be used as a weapon. As such, the gun becomes a deterrent for the to-be killer.

Saying that, guns should be freely accessable only in areas where there is a greater risk to life or limb.

I suggest all of you to watch "Lord of War" movie. Awesome movie related to this topic.

Exactly the point.

Who takes responsibility for the people?

Flame me for saying this. But not all people have sensible head on their shoulders to make correct decisions and even think rationally. Give possession of firearm in those hands and you are asking for trouble. When a gun makes its way in the hand of hothead or desperate person easily, things take a wrong turn. And when these people when gets a a firearm in his hand they tend to think they are invincible and can do whatever they want.

And thats why it should not be as easy to buy a gun as it is today in states.

A good percentage of population is not capable of taking the responsibility of owning a firearm.

Sure, there are other ways to commit crime. But firearm is firearm in the end.
