New DOTA games are spawning left and right. Valve announced a new DOTA, and now Blizzard announces its own DOTA based on Starcraft 2. So there are versions of DOTA now :

1. Warcraft 3 Dota
2. League of legends
3. Heroes of Newerth
4. Valve DOTA
5. Blizzard DOTA

With so many versions, which are you guys gonna play? Discuss.

i doubt icefrog will release any further updates since hes with valve now.

I will definitely play the valve dota since its based on source, besides they are introducing matchmaking so its gonna be fun over steam.

Yes but Blizzard's DOTA looks promising, and if Blizzard is making something it will be more than good..

Icy has commented several times that he will continue updating Dota, but that remains to be seen I guess.

Hats have already been put on the table for Valve DOTA. There is no escape.

Players will be able to earn custom headgear and outfits by writing game guides or coaching newbies.

I currently play LOL as its free. The clincher will be pricing. Which ever is agressive will be winner. Its actually only between Valve and Blizzard.

However since I already own a lot of games on Steam, I am certainly leaning towards Valve dota.

Blizzard's startcraft DOTA(type) will have much more depth and story involved with it, it will be interesting to play and get in to.

the origenal DOTA had great depth and support gameplay wise ( not character wise ....again regarding to the characters not their abilities)

valve dota, hmmmm,.. . am not too sure...i mean sure the original guy(lead contributor) is with them, but they have no experience with this genre moreover, remember the game will be reated when it comes out, the original dota became popular with time as more and more heroes and items were added.

well valve is a great company and blizzard is just better( really am a valve fan , but cant compare them, to blizzard blizzard is just better )

Lets see what becomes of the two games, i am sure to try both.

i can play dota via value or bizzard is not the issue if they put new item and new gameplay with good spell and power :)

so true

NOT !
No doubt Valve is a great developer, but Blizzard is in an altogether different league.

Valve has only 1 good original in-house franchise (Half-Life). The rest are just a result of them buying out independent modders (CS, DOD, TF2, Portal, L4D and now DOTA :p).

While everything Blizzard has made till date has been 100% original and 100% gold. Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, WOW; these aren't just extremely good games, there's a goddamn legacy in there.

^^ Don't bet on it. The Warhammer universe existed as a pen and paper RPG long before Blizzard was even formed. Apparently Blizzard was supposed to make a Warhammer game but the deal fell through. Blizzard then released Warcraft and Starcraft with enough differences to avoid a lawsuit, but unmistakable similarities. As much I admire Blizzard, it is difficult to overlook the similarities between Blood Ravens and Space Marines, Elders and NightElves, Tyranids and Zerg.

and valve has hired the modders that created those games - they are valve now too, so well its not like they are just taking credit for someone else's work.

the games are incomparable because of the different genres they belong to - valve has made the best fps games and blizzard has made the best strategy games - so how come they are not in the same league ?

valve's games stand out in the much more saturated genre of fps games.

and about legacy -

if warcraft has legacy - so does counter strike.

if starcraft has legacy so does half life.

and yeah steam is so much better than battle.net that i dont even need to elaborate on it - and its no longer just a platform for valve's games - but is a great platform for many indie developers as well.

they have done a good deal for the gaming community.

they are certainly not below any league.

what do you mean to say , half life was the first FPS ? NO it was not!

Half-life was agreat FPS with very deep story line ,

valve sure is recruiting talent.

but blizzard Has talent to very greater extent.

World of warcraft ...redefined ...MMORPGs

blizzard introduced experience system with heroes. (in RTS games)

micromanagement strategies ..its all blizzard.

they have much deeper universe setup.

and not just warcraft , its also the case with diablo, and starcraft.

as i said ...I love valve, but blizzard is just better
