To be honest this is not entirely Modi's fault.

He is dealing with the joke that we have as healthcare infrastructure. We can scale up manufacturing of tests all we want but without enough hospitals what can he do in a country where people have the propensity to procreate like rabbits.

He has two equally crappy options-
Extend the shutdown which will be akin to a nuclear strike on our economy as well as the livelihood of people in the informal sector.
Stop the shutdown and risk an avalanche of COVID mortalities along with the public backlash.

Whatever the bhakts may think the guy is not Superman who can conjure miracles out of the air.

We have been ignoring healthcare as a government deliverable for a long time and spending our money on stuff like nukes, space exploration etc. and this has been carried out by successive governments.

They try to focus on shiny milestones as a improvement metric to beat our chests on the world stage whereas the large majority of our population still defecates outside and is more worried about basic necessities for survival like jobs and onion prices (read inflation rate).

At one side they claim lockdown is the one-stop solution and at the other they say we got no other options and cannot carry with lockdown for a longer period, they themselves aren't able to decide & stick to their words.
The lesser the markets (ref. to only medical/grocery) remain open the more the public gathering and spread of the disease.
Imagine tomorrow if govt. decl. these shops only opened for 1 hr, then the huge rush will multiply by 100s for that 1 hr and petty riots/quarrels etc. will flame automatically everywhere as everyone wants the share of their piece..
And then there are bhakts and so called experts to cover up such facts by stating "do you have a better solution ?" I do have a better cum logical ones. But idiots like you will never agree for your understanding level...
Daily I see people from all walk of life suffering and just medical and grocery isn't gonna suffice for next months long lockdown...
Now govt. is going to open wine shops.. why the hell one needs wine shops? Govt. only thinks of bevdas and charsis in fact it is thinking of its politicians whose throat is running dry for weeks... again acting selfish.
Lockdown can be carried for a longer period but keeping in mind other human requirements as well. Now how this govt. handles this just keep watching the show..

The only reason I can think of is that their immunity didn't go into hyper mode resulting in the cytokine storm. But that still doesn't explain increased fatalaties in other immunocompromised people. Sorry, but that's the most technical I can get. You have already said, it's not the antiviral therapies they are on which could have suppressed the virus multiplication, which would have been my first guess.

I'ts been deliberately allowed to spread in India. People must be scared, like really scared.
Then he can easily blame all his economic failure to covid and entire nation shall node.

I live very close to this "worst bar" in Czech Republic. Vlad and Peter shot the initial first few scenes in our house.

Some officials @ ICMR should be punished.
They copied the donning and doffing guidelines from NIOSH ( Which is perfectly fine) but forgot to include the most important ( and often missed) part. The outer gloves and gown/ overalls SHOULD BE REMOVED simultaneously. Any person with half a brain should understand the logic behind it.
They are instructing to use hand rubs before putting on the inner gloves ( ideally it should be a thorough surgical hand wash like before surgery, I have yet to see anyone using hand rub before putting on the inner gloves)
The double gloves also have disadvantages, and it's a matter of debate ( like double condoms, there's a chance of frictional damage, plus some people can't feel low volume pulses with double gloves, I could never use double gloves for lumbar puncture or central venous access.
No wonder so many doctors got infected so early with such a low patient load.
God knows what will happen when the caseload shoots up.
These idiots are taking training classes!!
Why AIMS/ PGI is not working directly with ICMR is beyond me.
Most of the medical staff and "scientists" have below par academic records, and zero international recognition ( the community medicine people there are really bottom of the barrel doctors with subnormal IQ)
Completely frustrated within a week.

HCQS is not working anymore for majority of patients. These things are very common.
However this is not really a toxic drug. Most people tolerate dose of 800mg / day ( I couldn't) with mild nausea.
QT prolongation is not a common side effect of HCQS. However all the OTC drug can cause serious problems ( paracetamol - liver failure, pantoprazole- atrophic gastritis etc.)
Using HCQS as prophylaxis seems a bad idea now ( not for toxicity)
Same thing is happening with remdesivir. People are jumping in joy about it, but the trial shows 30 percent success ( in decreasing symptom duration!! Nothing else.) But thankfully it's an injectable drug, so most people won't be able to take it themselves.
People simply forgot how miserably it failed with Ebola after huge invitro success.
Same with the vaccine ( specially the Oxford one), not a single pharmacologist has come forward with its efficacy, yet media is making a huge deal about it.
These are half assed attempts with very high chance of failure ( or very poor success rate like the stupid dengue monoclonal vaccine)
Only the US German attempt is keeping it quiet and possibly moving in the right direction. Sequencing a RNA virus complete genome in vitro is a very tedious process, it has to be the entire genome and not the attaching end of the virus that matters. The attachment sequence can change within hours and influenza virus has shown us, how smart virus are
I will keep on saying a live attenuated vaccine is our only hope and it ain't gonna come anytime soon.
Vaccine won't end this epidemic, but herd immunity will. Unless someone gets lucky and sequence the genome overnight and precisely in vitro. No half measures will be enough.

This 2 month lockdown was "supposedly" preventive ( started with less than 1000, now close to 35000, some prevention we did!!)
And they are not even talking about the real damage control lockdowns which may come later.
DCLDs will keep on coming till September/ October and may be on very large scales.

Wouldn't that number be a million, instead of 35k, if the lockdown was not imposed? I wish the lockdown was imposed much earlier than it did, like the beginning of March would have been better.
 
It will be millions, but then India wouldn't be able to afford for a single day of lockdown.
Please try to understand one thing, how can the infection rise 35 times without community transmission and the harshest lockdown.

On one hand you say that the lockdown was done too late, on the other hand there are only 1200 deaths in 40 days out of 130 crore people.
That makes it literally one in a million chance of dying due to CV in India atm.
You need to choose one, either the government is incompetent or the virus isn't as deadly as it's being made out to be in the media, personally I believe it's both.
As for the repercussions of the lockdown, India won't be the only country to suffer economically.

Please give us numbers if/when you have good figures sir. idk who to believe but fellow persons at this time.
