I read in one of these forums that someone was going to buy a gamecontroller for pc?what matters to me is that he called it an xbox 360 controller. Can I use my wireless/wired xbox controller to play games on my pc?

A XBOx 360 controller is a copy of the game controller used in the XBOX360 Game console, but is meant to be used on a PC running Windows (:S). It is connected via a USB port to the PC, and yes, you can play most of the current games with it as it is natively supported.

If you have the wireless receiver for the PC, the XBox 360 controller can be used with the PC. Am looking for a receiver myself. Unfortunately, it's not generally available by itself. I have no idea about the wired one. Though, since it is a USB interface IIRC, if you have the software for it (which is easily downloadable at the MS site) I think it should work.
EDIT: Oh and the games have to be compatible with the pad, else you'll have to manually map the keys and all (if the gamepad as contoller is an option), though software is available with mappings for many games. :) And of course, as PhOeNiX mentioned, it's officially only for Windows (it's M$ after all :P). Though I'm sure there's a Linux hack for it somewhere out there. :D

:S U r kidding right?

The controllers are same as that of the X360 with just one exception the huge 'X' button is non-functional on PCs.

There are 2 variations available a wired one and a wireless one. The wireless one (obviously) is the costlier one.

These gamepads functions as plug and play devices but for XP SP2 you need to install the drivers.

You can get the wired one for 1.4k at Lamington road. The wireless one is around 2.2k

There is also a logitech controller shaped similar to the 360 controller.

The wired controller is the same as that of xbox 360. If you have xbox 360 at home with wired controllers then you can just plug the controller on your pc and start playing, when you finish, hook it back to the xbox 360 and start playing there....

the wireless is a bit complicated though, you will need to get the receiver and some other thing as well. it would lighten you by about 4k in that case.

I've bought the Wireless Xbox 360 controller for PC for 2.5k last month. Its nothing complicated

Put the CD and install drivers, Plug in the wireless receiver to USB Port, Switch on the Controller and your good to go...

i thought it was about 2.5k for the controller + about 1k for the wireless receiver?

Did you get both for 2.5k????

^^ If you get the Wireless controller for Windows, it comes with the receiver and the whole package costs 2.2-2.5K depending on where you're buying it from. :)

If you have an XBox controller and need the Wireless receiver for Windows, that used to cost around 1.2K. But now that M$ is not manufacturing them as stand alone, they cost generally 2.5 and above, again, depending on where you get it from. :D
