I need a software to hide/lock/setpassword on my personal files so nobody can access them but me!
it will be great if I also can block a website by that software ...

Thanks in advance

I use Winrar for the same thing.
Simply set a password while archiving in Advanced Tab.
Then Tick 'Encrypt File Names' and thats it no one can access your files in the archive.

P.S.: Do remember to remove the original set after archiving or tick 'Delete Files After Archiving' in Archiving Options.

SourceForge.net: WinFileCrypt

This is an awesome encryption software which uses 3DES cipher-block-chained encryption, with a 128 bit key! Your Folder/Files will be very very much protected.

:hap2:

i use pc security

very safe n effective way

i know its not as secure like encryptinh but still a normal person will not be able to crack it

just right click on the folder and select pc seurity lock and unlock as simple as that

KeypassDB for password keeping. AxCrypt for file/folder encryption. Truecrypt for encrypted partitions/virtual drives.

A security software is better if it is password protected. what you say ?:huh:
Each an every security software whether TrueCrypt or sharewareconnection.com or Winfilecrypt or desksense.com needs a secure password to protect their Data's..lol ... and if you handling such type of software you must remember the password ..right ?
I am still :huh::huh::huh::huh:

Well forget security without remembering passwords.

You could use TrueCrypt.
However, to keep things more discreet its better you go about it in your own way. This is how you (atleast how I) do it:

1)Archive the file using WinRAR, Winzip, 7-zip or whatever manager you have.

2)Make sure that you can view file extensions in the file name, ie. if you are having a look at a file, then the name of the file should read "something"."something"
(if you cannot view the extension, then navigate to Tools > Folder Options > View and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" )
3) Now right click on the file and select "Rename"
4)Give it any crap name now (and remember where the file is saved)
5)Say "Yes" to whatever warning Windows will give.
6)Viola! Now nobody (other than you) can open the file :)

To open that file, just rename the file back to it's original extension (ie .zip or .rar or .7z whichever), unzip the file and you are done :)

It's always worked for me

Its Open Source, not freeware :)

so many shooting many SW.
But why??

NTFS file system has itself got a very strong security.
If u have XP installed on NTFS
then u can strongly protect any folder with different set of permissions.
No SW needed at all.

Just follow these steps.

* Open Windows Explorer.
* Select the Tools menu.
* Select Folder Options.
* Select the View tab.
* Scroll the Advanced settings ,may be last option i guess.
*Use simple file sharing (Recommended)
Now uncheck the checkbox and you are ready for show :cool2:

Now
*Right-click the folder that you want to Lock and then click Properties.
*Now you will notice an new tab named Security that was never there before.
*Now click on the Security tab.
*Choose the group or user name.
*Now you can adjust their permissions:
*To allow or deny a type of permission, select the Allow or Deny check box in the Permissions for User or Group dialog box.

*Now check the Full control Checkbox below deny.

*Now click on Apply,next OK and you are done.

When ever any one tries to access or delete the folder you get Access Denied error.

So,when ever you want to Acess the folder,simply Uncheck the Deny check boxes.

Liked it??

^^Yes, but there are a few loopholes - hope you are aware of them.

1) Any user with administrator access can override your security settings. If you want to prevent this, you should ensure that no other user has admin rights. But this has it's own practical difficulties

2)Anyone booting the system using a pen drive/USB Drive/CD-DVD into an OS like Ubuntu or say even windows, will be able to access your folders.

3) Suppose you forget to set the "deny" after you accessed the folder, or there was an unexpected power failure/crash, your files will be in unprotected state.

You could try encrypted folders if you want to really prevent access.

But why bother with all this when u have truecrypt for free. Absolute peace of mind - guaranteed.

This can be easily overcome.

But tedious task of encrypting and decrypting.

Anyway at my home no one uses my pc except me.so i never bothered more than above said option.
