So guys its that time of the year again when all my present HDD's are almost topped up to the max and i have no other place to store the data. Now this is what i already own:

Internal:

400GB x 1

500 GB x 2

1 TB x 1

External

1 TB x 1

Over the years i have noticed that i don't really use my external on my daily basis. I basically use it to transfer the data. I can't be bothered writing the data on the disc's as it a tiresome as well as expensive process. One more thing that i have just six sata ports on my mobo and i kind of already require seven.(2 Optical Drives + 4 HDD + 1 for Cabby's esata connector.)

So suggest me on what to get. Also i have no idea about the good Internal Sata Drives. Finally whats the running price for a 1TB WD My book these days.

TIA

I ain't getting rid of anything. Cant be bothered taking out of the HDD and and then clicking a pic.

i say get a 1.5tb HDD internal and use the existing 400 gb and 500 gb for backup. I think as thses drives are used for a long while, its better to give them rest.
Doing so you will gain 600 gb internal storage and 900 gb as backup storage.

^There's no such thing as a 1TB 'AACS'! It's either an EACS or an EADS you're referring to. The EACS is EOL IINM.

could you please specify how?

4.7GB verbatim => 11 (costs 550 for a spindle of 50)
come to ~ Rs2.34/GB

i doubt if any hdd in market would offer you below Rs3.5/GB

also, if you do not have any backup of your data on your hdds to dvds then this might just be the time to do that.

But the HDD can be erased and loaded with fresh data, n number of times
in short,
Optical Media is Read only
HDDs are Read and write
Now,Thats a huge benefit;)

why click a pic?
take out 400gb after transferring data put 1.5/2tb then throw 400gb hdd outside window
simple

I'd say sell one of the internal drives and get a 1.5tb drive, since you've already got a external one.

outta window???might kill somebody walking below...:D
rather donate to some lesser mortals like me...I still use 240+160GB:)

^Errrm how do we calculate that? The cheapest as of today is a 1.5TB drive. I was quoted 5.7k for a WD 15EADS by Ankit a while ago. Going by the price per GB, this drive is the cheapest. 6 months down the line, probably the 2TB drive would take its spot.

^^

1TB=>4.3k~4.4k

1.5TB=>6.4~6.6k

2TB =>11k-------(NEHRU PLACE)

i don't know what made it 11k:O

5.7K for the WD sounds good... Will try to get one today from NP as i am going to that part of the city... Also approx price for a Sata card...
