I'll be going to China for a business trip in a few days. Will go to Beijing, Shanghai and a few smaller towns. Anyone with some experience, please let me know if China's a good place to shop for anything, Tech or otherwise.

I've been planning to buy a Laptop, iPod, Digicam and stuff for some time. Any point buying these from there? Is stuff in English interface available and will the warranty hold in India? Wanna know now so that I know how much cash to carry.

Also any other advise like stuff I must do or try there or any warnings would be nice. :P

My dad was in China on a 4 day business trip.

Electronic Items cost more in China than in India.

For ex: Nokia N95 costs abt 5800 Yuans. One Yuan is approx Rs.7/-

Beijing and Shangai are top notch cities and would appear totally next-gen for anyone living in Indian cities. The Beijing airport will leave you floored. http://www.techenclave.com/general-talk/beijing-airport-112828.html

Its a treasure of sea-food in china. Try finding Indian Restaurants coz the food there may not suit us Indians and tend to be undercooked.

Indian food is really costly there .. it might cost upwards of 500 bucks for a one time meal per person

Why would you look for Indian food in China ?

They'd never beat the dhabbas for price +quality over here, that is if you prefer to pay for food instead of ambience :P

Nah, i'd try out some of the Chinese food that is expensive, everywhere else instead ;)

check out the cheep roadside food on china

snakes, scorpions, octopus, dog brain soup, lizard legs, ox tongue etc etc

Lolz; :lol:

In HK, 6 aloo parathas + a nestle dabba of curd fetches [ummmm 6x10 + 12 HK$] 82HK$; thats approx 500INR;

Vegetarian food and that too the Indian ones are prohibitively expensive in China, HK n the likes;

NV food is a lot cheaper; but then half baked stuff; Cheeze.. :(

Exactly, whats the point otherwise? You are in china and instead of enjoying the cuisine over there you are cribbing for indian food. Lame! :rofl:

come to UK and see how expensive food is here :)

How about you telling us how expensive it is ? :)
Here in Frankfurt, a normal meal with two naans, one curry, rice, drinks, desert will cost around 20 Euros minimum. (Which btw is almost Rs.1400)

^^if you eat outside over here, it will be 20pounds
basically what u pay in euros, it will be those many pounds here

i;ve done extensive comparisons with my friend in dusseldorf :)

You cant compare that with what it costs in Indian Rupees.

What is the average pay there in terms of Rupees?

Exactly :P

You crib bout how expensive indian food is cos with the normal indian thinkin, u automatically compare $ to rupees :bleh:

What about the salary converted in rupees that u get?

If you compare those, %age wise, the proportion will be similar.

Yeah. I would never want to eat indian food in china. Wondering how different would chinese food taste in china compared to india
