Hi guys,

I am just really frustrated by Failtel.

Finally I have decided not to pay the pending bill of 3 months.

On 31st July, 3 months are completed & I have also requested for disconnection.

All Services have been barred from 1st August.

What will happen if I dont pay the pending amount after disconnection, which is 3k around.

Any action from their side ???

They will start calling you & pressurize you for payment, then they will send legal notices. For future they will blacklist you.

Yes, they will keep adding late fee for next 2 to 3 months.. Post then they will send a legal notice and then force you to appear in court ..

Since you have used the connection and no fault from their side, it's better to pay it off.. why unnecessary risk..

I have heard that Airtel also sends the data to CIBIL.
Anyways the best thing is to pay it off and get rid of them. Make sure you preserve the surrender slip of ur connection.
I had a postpaid conn. which I had surrendered and was receiving the bill for more than 8months. Since I had moved from that address I was unaware of the monthly bills but suddenly a notice dropped at my office and then I replied with the surrender slip and they apologized and cleared the account.

What would be their last action after Calling, Legal notices & blacklisting me ???

Also, do they compromise on bill amount like 3k bill finally settling with just 1.5 - 2k amount ???

Please let me know your responses.......TIA !!

I had a similar dispute with them last year.
But later I heard telecom bills gonna make into CIBIL, I negotiated with them and cleared the mess.

Depends. They could but that will put a negative marker on your credit report. You can forget getting a credit card/ loan for the next 8 years..

did you give application for disconnection 3 months back or whatever time , then you can decide not to pay pending bill and take compensation also from consumer court for harassment . But did you give the application , if not you will have issues .

Why the hell you want to do that? If you are ready to pay 2k, why not 3k?
I don't think you are here for any advise or to understand the issue, but you have decided not to pay and just want to know the consequences..

All the best. I am off from this topic.

Agreed. If you have used something and charged for it as per the plan, I don't think you have any right to refuse payment. If you do, you ought to be black-listed and termed as a defaulter.

see,
here it goes,
i have been satisfied customer of failtel from last 6 yrs.
my experience is this.
1) you have given disconnection letter and still getting bill----you are on right side.
2) you used services and still not ready to pay up----you are on wrong side.

now if you think you are charged extra, you can negotiate your way out of this mess.
but keep your name clean.

Ok Guys.........Calm down !!

I have given multiple requests for cancellation earlier, every time my connection was re-instated by giving some A, B, C plan by providing some waiver on it.

And most importantly, they don't stand upon their words after the bill is generated.
I am bothered about Plans they are offering, none of them suits my need.

Then starts the play game, calling CC, writing mails & confirming new plans/re-instated plan at beginning of every month etc etc.

Another issue is their post FUP speed, which is marginal 256kbps..........Imagine using 2Mpbs while surfing & Suddenly ur speed drops to 1/10th.
WTF, going to pre-historic times of Internet era.

And Airtel is not called Failtel, until & unless they have acted upon my(everybody) complaints & done proper resolution.
I will say for more details, go & get the beloved "Airtel" then you will get to know !!

Okay.. unless someone can backup these CBI and Bank Credit report claims .. it all false rumors.

OP -
1. Airtel will themselves call to tell you to pay send increased bills everymonth.
2. Collection Agency will call pretending be Airtel rep to tell you pay up.
3. Collection Agent will come to your registered address and ask you to pay up or to negotiate a lesser amount.
4. Airtel/Collection agent will call you up to give you a final deadline before they take the matter to court.
5. You will get a call from some "High Court" officer tell you a case has/will be filed against you in the Court. (It was the Bhopal High Court in my case ..)
6. They will call up your number once whenever it turns up on the defaulters list every month ad inifitum.

AIRTEL can blacklist me all they want .. I will never go back to using any of their services.
I am fine with paying extra for Service Operators who aren't thieving nutjobs ..

My tataindicom bb experience: I didn't pay the bill because they overcharged charged me for the data which I did not use, amount was ~4k... I escalated the issue to their nodal manager but they were not much of use and refused to co-operate... After few days their collection agent came to my address to negotiate and settle the bill but amount he was asking was still high. I said i'll clear my monthly tariff only, i.e 1k... He did not agree, then I said do whatever you want to do ! After few months they sent notice stating that they have approached local civil governing body (Dont remember correct word) and asked us to come there on particular date and clear the amount, now amount was reduced to 1.5k .. I chucked that too, now after 6 months or so a guy called from Delhi; stating that He is advocate and I have a day to settle the amount (Now 1k) otherwise they'll file case against me in Delhi high court... I asked him, how can you approach Delhi HC when my connection come under Maharashtra jurisdiction ? Then he started abusing n calling from different numbers... He calmed down when I asked him to get lost... He gave account number on which I had to clear the dues, it was different than the default number... I approached tata office confirmed that the account number given is indeed on my initials and cleared the 1k amount, just to get rid of frequent called from new numbers... So if its company's mistake, wait untill they come to your terms...

^^
Their representative just called me & asked again why i m disconnecting the broadband?

I tried to tell them all above points, but they insisted to give me meager 10 percent (300rs) off in the total bill & again want to re-instate the connection.

I told them to call me in evening, again in the same dilemma !!

Should I re-instate & pay all pending bills ?
or
forget Airtel & start using new ISP services
?

forget airtel and start using better ISP .
airtel wont be doing away with their FUP.
just find confirmation no. or email for your first disconnect request and tell them to get lost.

Forget and move on.

AIRTEL tried to charge for 3 months extra bill + late fee even after I stopped using their service and (assumed) my line was disconnected.

They came after 4 months with a bill over 5k when I just owed them 1.2k ..

This is not some random billing error but a very common tactic to coerce customers who try to leave their services.

I have heard that Airtel also sends the data to CIBIL.
I just googled & found out this:

Cibil, the country's credit information bureau, which tracks credit history of consumers, is taking steps to include mobile and telephone bill payment history to calculate the credit worthiness of an individual. It has already launched a pilot initiative with Vodafone's post-paid customers and is in talks with the country's largest telco by customers, Bharti Airtel, for a similar project.

If telecoms are releasing such kind of data to govt. then it will be available under RTI..

Also for these actions they can sued by customers who have been wrongly charged and labelled as defaulters.

Too much headache for any company to take up. I don't think it will materialize.
