Sure. I have 0 doubts. But can it happen in India?
It is already happing in India. Zomato uses AI extensively for personalized recommendations, optimizing delivery routes and even for customer support.
Sure these tech they did not develop themselves but is based on the development that has already happened in AI world but there could many such startups in future like zomato across different sectors.

Zomato uses AI extensively for personalized recommendations, optimizing delivery routes and even for customer support.
Okay, I didn't notice they are using AI now. The app is chaotic. But, did the AI make them a Fortune 500 company? Weren't they already big before?

even for customer support.
This is what I meant when I said about BPO jobs going away. AI is eliminating more positions than it is creating.

It’s like real estate, healthcare, govt, education, aviation etc rollout the red carpet for techies. Who knew coding could make you such a hot commodity?
Oh, I completely missed that, can you elaborate or give examples? E.g. in real estate I see jobs for only goons, smooth talkers and manual labourers. My coding skills don't count for anything there.

Unless you are talking about the software part in almost every business these days - for record keeping, accounting, GST, inventory, digital marketing etc. That part mostly goes to out of the box CRM software, with configuration done by semi-technical people - AI will not make them go away soon but their required skill levels will soon be reduced so much that they will be paid literally minimum wage.

Aaj ka kaand, in our college today there is some multi-whatever + research conference is going on. From 9 am to 4pm and temperature is quite high here.
( Like right now as I am typing this ).

We were there for participation certificate to submit it for end semester.
People/students from entire district's college were there.

Baithe baithe 3 ghante ulat gaye,
Lekin student registration shuru nahi hua tha.
To chal kya Raha hai to dekha
Jo bande/log apna research paper submit kar rahe hai unko pradhanya diya Jaa raaha hai aur hame crowd dikhane keliye baithaya Gaya hai.
Crowd Mai students se jyada teacher log baithe hai.

Aur so ye research paper submit kar rahe hai vo log vo hai jinka kabhi research paper publish nahi hota ya sirf aur sirf course ki formality keliye submition kar rahe hai. Basically they are taking opportunity to publish any bs.

Okay okay but what's your point here k660?
This:

Today's Chaos:

Right now, some multi-whatever + research conference is happening at our college.

We went there just to collect the participation certificate for our end-semester submission. Students from colleges across the entire district were present.

We sat there for three hours, but student registration hadn't even started yet.

So, we checked what was actually happening. Turns out, those submitting their research papers were being given priority, while the rest of us were just made to sit there to fill up the crowd.

In fact, there were more teachers than students in the audience.

And the ones submitting research papers? Most of them are people who never get their papers published or are doing it just as a course formality. Basically, they’re using this as an opportunity to publish any nonsense. ]

- India's research contribution chalta chalne do witnessed live today

If those who can meagerly afford to live in high expense countries are selling their own homes in India for millions and are migrating away exploiting dangerous routes at expensive costs, we are having a serious systemic problem.
Unless our leadership is ready to address that, we will be in difficult times. Seeing the number of millionaires those left the country in last few years should be a shocking eye opener for anyone with sensible thoughts.

Give them jobs. They'll change.
This, particular line.
Idk if this is limited to only gen-Z,
Here I see the delivery guys young ones below 30 refuse to work giving reasons like it's too hot and yada yada, essentially taking duty off from 11am to 5pm.
But at the same there is old person above 30 he as usual works keep on working and took the time off of an hour or two ( that sounds low k660, yes cuz he had to delivery twice as many parcels/packagess, cuz the young ones refused to work ).

- i keep seeing young ones getting fired for their behaviour, lack of civic sense, manners n similar stuff.

- it's one of those moments where i believe we need jp like schools/classes where they teach how to behave at jobs, their responsibilities, refresher on civic sense n stuff at workplace.

Bruh!!! What. You went into a parallel universe.

I meant these non-tech industries cater to IT folks. Real estate companies are building skyscrapers with IT nerds "as customers" in mind. I don't think they considered BA grads.

A friend's father had to get angioplasty done last year. It cost him 5L for one stent surgery. I was like WTF. Open-heart surgery used to cost 3L 10 years ago. Now, it's between 10-15L. Who else can afford this?

Unless our leadership is ready to address that
If you say there's a problem, you become an aunty-national.

:pompus: Why do you refer to yourself in the third person like a dictator?

Oh shit! :nailbiting:

Saar PM saar, yaha pe kesse aana hua?

Idk if this is limited to only gen-Z,
We had some of them in Gen Y. But, yeah, more in Gen Z than Gen Y.

GenZ use more social media → GenZ see people working behind the desk in AC → GenZ want that life.

I didn't say anything about Govt jobs. Not everyone is crazy for Govt jobs. I certainly am not. I deserve better.

I wasn't talking about surgeons using some sophisticated tools.

article 1, article 2. Some random things I found.

Let's see how crazy the situation is.

  • BE graduate fresher salary in 2010: 25k
  • 25k adjusted for inflation for 2025: 1.50L (considering a realistic 13% inflation rate adjusted for city life + INR depreciation) This is what the fresher salary should be in 2025.
  • But current fresher salary in 2025: 30k
  • Today's 30k adjusted for inflation for 2010?: 5k

Todays, fresher out of engineering colleges have a purchase parity equivalent to a society watchman of 2010.

Figures like these would have anyone sprinting to get a robotic Vasectomy!

Take a closer look, and you'll notice that a lot of non-IT businesses seem to be designed with IT professionals in mind. It’s like real estate, healthcare, govt, education, aviation etc rollout the red carpet for techies. Who knew coding could make you such a hot commodity?
Full robotic automation does not occur in the near future like maybe by 2050s. In your above article 1 "Presented at the recent Conference on Robot Learning in Munich, the research comes almost four decades after the PUMA 560 became the first robot to assist in the operating room, helping with a brain biopsy in 1985".
How much time did it take from 1985 to 2025 "Now, a team of Johns Hopkins University and Stanford University researchers has reported a significant advance, training robots with videos to perform surgical tasks with the skill of human doctors".
And how much time it will take for complete automation of robotic surgeries reaching 100% precision and error free? Since AI started just 2 years ago, So how much time will it take for complete takeover of reasonable sectors which AI can be used to preform without human intervention? Its not now because it will take decades to reach the level for AI & Robotic Automation with 100% error free & precision to be implemented in all sectors.
Maybe AI might be implemented in Software field now to some extent.

Regarding non-IT businesses designed for IT professionals in mind,
Take for example: Madhapur where Hitech City was established in 2000s by Chandra Babu Naidu then CM of AP. After that many MNCs came and established their centres for software development. Since 2000s only Real estate or hospitals may have developed in and around the Hitech City. Don't forget even before the establishemnt of Hitech City Hyderabad has well established Housing, hospitals, education institutions, Airport etc. This IT field may have generated some wealth only since it is a 1 sector that developed fast and now reached its zenith. So likewise all 4 metros of India & Tier 2 cities got their own infrastructure even before 2000s. Now everbody in reddit are saying because of this IT sector & NRIs real estate prices have sky rocketed and not in a position for middle class or lower claases to buy.
Read these: NRIs are making housing unaffordable in india & Who is inflating the residential real estate market in India?

Bro
You are thinking that only because of IT sector all developments in all other sectors came in India. No. IT sector is one of the sectors of any economy which generates wealth either to the govt or to pvt companies. But this is not the main cause for the spurt of growth of other sectors since there are many factors which already existed and contributed to the wealth of the nation. IT sector exists since last 25-30 years at most. Those who graduated in 2000s in any degree got IT jobs I think even until 2010 but that situation is not prevailing now in Indian IT sector recruitments.

Now young people and youth are trying to go back to their roots like mostly when I interacted with either in metros or in villages. They want to take non IT educational courses like Bsc Physics, Chemistry, B.Pharma, CA, CS, Chefs, Biotechnology, Nuclear Physics, and then wanted to do MBAs, MS in Biotechnology, Astro-physics, M.Pharma, Msc. The trend has already changed because youth are not stupid or blind to whats happening in the world regarding jobs, careers or businesses & new oppurtunities.

If anybody can read this article titled " India Employment Report 2024"by International labor Organisation (Insitute for Human Development), then one who has doubts regarding whether India is in steady decline or not can come to a conclusion. India Employment Report 2024

It's slowing down, though. It's not even remotely enough to catch up with any developed nation.
It's not slowing down. We will be challenging China's GDP after a decade what with their fake GDP numbers.
The FDI increase was mostly due to silly after-COVID policies China employed.
I'm referring to consistent FDI inflows since 2014. Nothing to do with covid.
The world is watching those numbers, and they don't like the Indian economic outlook.
I've posted sources here showing consistent growth projection to the end of the decade. India's future economic outlook is good. India's growth is unstoppable and proven since independence. We're not an assisted economy like China, Germany & Japan. We've grown despite sanctions and never enjoyed over half a century of peace dividend like those three countries. All this is lost on you. Our track record is good here so I don't see any cause for concern for the future as far as Indian economic growth is concerned.
It's why China's share market is up by like 30-40% and India is still falling.
It's a bubble and a risky one.

Nothing is up in China. Admitting so comes with costs which is why I prefer Internet commentary that China is powerless to influence or otherwise threaten. Mainstream media has to play to the CCPs wishes or get blocked from future developments. Not an option for any western media conglomerates bottom line. Biggest joke is western media towing the CCPs line.
I don't agree. We are export dependant. More so than China.

India is imports dependant.
Clearly you don't understand the internal economy we have going here that China doesn't have
We can't grow petrol, technology, or dollars here. We simply won't function without our imports. Agree on this point?
We can import those
Say, your monthly expense is 2L. But, the salary is only 1L. Can you say you aren't concerned about the salary?
Personally no but governments have many other ways. For one they can tax their citizens and issue bonds unlike any of us. They can depreciate their currency so repaying debt gets easier.
China is a net positive economy. Just because an economy is a net positive doesn't mean it must rely on the exports, or it'll flop.
They will flop if their imports decrease. That is why all the world needs to put China in its place is to get their exports to contract by 25%. No war with China required.

A reduction of that size will create enough domestic turmoil to make China look inward. If they do that they won't be bothering any of their neighbours.
China is resourceful, which India can't claim. China has resources for almost everything. If the world collapses tomorrow, it can survive rather thrive on its own just fine.
No it can't and by that I mean something as basic as food. Only 10% of Chinese territory can be used to grow food. Whereas nearly 50% of Indian territory can be used to grow food. China cannot survive without imported food or needs much more than we do.

Given India's history of famines, the first priority of the government post independence was to achieve food security. Took us over half a century but we've done it. eg. by 1998 we were producing more milk than the Americans.

Our increasing collaboration with Israel, over a decade old by now will further increase our future food security in the event of climate uncertainty.

What is IMEC? Israeli & Gulf Arab cooperation to make India a food basket for THEM. After all what's another 50 million more mouths to feed in west Asia. Yeah.
China is thriving with its exports, no doubt. But India is collapsing in slow motion under its import heavy trade portfolio.
China's exports cannot fix their broken economy. Our economy is doing just fine.
We can only claim India isn't reliant on exports if we stop talking about the newest phones, laptops, cars, and fuel, and go back to using bullock carts. Today, our salary (exports) doesn't cover our expenses (imports).
You don't understand India's internal consumption economy.

noticed maids, drivers etc kids especially boys just don't want to work, pressurize parents for latest mobile and a bike, cant hold a job for more than couple of months. Girls a bit better but then their focus is on reels, every girl wants to be an influencer, no focus on acquiring skills. My electrician's says his son works on laptop, I figured must be YT, earning = 0, doesnt want to become electrician. Same with plumber.

A lot of this also stems from today's young "influencers" with their click-bait "earn lakhs with zero/minimum skills" content—with captions such as "I made 1cr at just 22, so can you."This inadvertently preys on young minds who don't know better.

Infosys was recruiting Bsc/BTech Computers freshers in 2011 by paying them 25k per month and in 2025 its 40k. Do you expect Infosys or Polaris or Microsoft to pay 1.5 lacs per month for freshers just because they were paid 25k in 2010.
Oh boy your expectations seems to be very high even higher than average Amercans expectations.

I wasn't talking about surgeons using some sophisticated tools.
You are saying not everyone is crazy for govt jobs right. About deserving better means better pay right? Do you know about Mr.N. Saibaba former Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC) in Hyderabad, India. About the 8 women scientists who were responsible for Chandrayan 3 Moon Mission of ISRO and when they started their careers? Between 1987-2003. When was the 1st Indegenously developed Micro Nuclear reactor? In 2003 but it took us 13 more years to streamline it for use in our Nuclear Submarines. Then how much are these women and men in PSUs were paid when they joined in 1987-2003? Around 18k starting salary. Now each scientific assistant under probation are paid 45k per month and after probation 86k per month. Do you think this is not sufficient for a starting salary in a PSU? And what are the qualifications and where did these 8 women completed their degrees before joining ISRO? Not in IITs but normal engineering colleges.

Yet you want more salary not content like the crores of such people who are joining PSUs and making India proud.

As of 2024, these are the statistics:
Out of the 58.6 crore employed individuals, 15.2 crore hold jobs in the organized sector (both public and private)
Government jobs account for 1.4 crore positions, which is only 2 out of every 100 jobs in the organized sector
There are 30.87 lakh employees in the central government
The number of state government employees amount to 20 crores for all states & UTs combined
Government jobs are known for their job security, with very low chances of layoffs compared to the private sector
The competition for government jobs is very high, with only 1.4% of the working-age population securing a government job
There are over 9.64 lakh vacant posts in the central government right now
The government has been actively recruiting, with 7.22 lakh permanent central government jobs in the past eight years, and over 22 crore applications received
Department of Atomic Energy which comprises of 15 departments has 85 units under it actively recruits 10,000 people every year
Despite the boom in the Indian economy, many young Indians still hanker for government jobs

What about other PSUs? How many people are they recruiting per year?

You crticize that India and Indian companies does not have the capability to develop anything new and support any projects right?

Then what about Defence Aquisitions and Indegenisation?
India has set a defence export target of Rs 350 billion by 2024-25. This drive for increased exports aligns with a significant emphasis on the indigenisation of weaponry and systems.
These include imposing phased bans on the import of weapons, creating a separate budget for buying locally made military hardware, increasing foreign direct investment from 49% to 74%, and improving ease of doing business.

India is eyeing a turnover of Rs 1.8 trillion (tn) in defence manufacturing by 2024-25 & 3 trillion in defence manufacturing by 2029-30.

On 4 October,2024 India slapped an import ban on 98 weapons and systems, including futuristic infantry combat vehicles, ship-borne unmanned aerial systems, medium-range precision kill systems, radars, sensors, and equipment for fighter jets, maritime surveillance planes, warships, helicopters, and tanks.

The fifth positive indigenisation list, released by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, took the number of major defence items placed under an import ban during the past three years to 509.

Bro
You know my brother works for a coveted private firm which supplies parts to BDL who makes Agni 5 missile. Do you think he is not happy or feel that his job is not derserving enough but he is happy and does his duty without moaning about less pay by comparing it with US or european companies. You are speaking highly of china and its prowess now but when they attack us or even show the intention to this very Agni 5 is our bramhastra or our deterrence. And who made it possible? Not IT sector buddy. Remember this.
IT sector is not the begining for us nor is the end for us. Its just a part of revenue generation for our economy. And also there are other sectors which will emerge and take a big portion of the present youth. Like Isreal presently are asking for nurses from India only and they are saying that they will pay handsomely.
