China hasn't risen, it has returned. India is the same as well. The countries with bigger populations are going to be able to grow their economy faster than those with smaller populations. Keep this in mind anytime some one tells you we are so over populated ;)
Lets address the elephant in the room. Indian govt policies were shitty.
In one of the talks, charlie munger says he would do business with china rather than India due to the shitty practices here. The government is too powerful to get away with anything. everyone in the govt is corrupt because its too powerful (absolute power corrupts absolutely). Almost every politician appeases populous rather than empowerment. for example everyone universally agrees that caste system is bad; but we still have reservations. Govt doesn't reward talent but laziness in almost every type of govt sector.

Take an example of Singapore or South Korea and how they developed. heck, Japan was almost leveled during WW2. Socialism doesn't work and it doesn't stand the test of time. There isn't a single country which has powerful government and is not corrupt. Government is for the people but it is also necessary evil. it should not be powerful.

Indira Gandhi was a illegitimate ruler for the entirety of the emergency period. Many of the laws she passed during that time had to be scratched out by the Supreme Court. Countless people were snuffed out during that time just for opposing her. She was a bona-fide dictator. No other countries constitution is required as a reference to arrive at that.

The desire of every govt in every country is to ultimately become a dictatorship no matter what form they are in. It is up to the people to prevent that from happening. In a country like US, people do not let it happen. There will always be sufficient number of people to take a stance against that even if it's someone they had supported earlier. In India, there are enough people who would welcome a dictatorship because they don't have any understanding of the value of freedom they enjoy.

People talk about americans being ignorant about world affairs and stupid etc, but they care about and will defend at all costs, liberty and freedom, and don't give many fcks about anything else. And in the end that's pretty much all that's needed to be happy. Of course they may be destroying the global economy or the environment, but then we're not doing much about that either...

Digging up an old thread...but honestly some posts makes me wanna throw up!! I openly advocate free sex , open marriage ( if you can handle it) etc.
But taking advantage of a male's superior physical strength over a woman makes me sick to the stomach.
Try it with Eastern European women ( most are way taller than an average Indian male and MUCH stronger physically) they can teach your male hormones a good lesson.
Seriously mate...more than 50-60 percent women I know or see in the streets are really tall ( compared to what I saw growing up in Kolkata...I know some north Indians are tall..my mother was from Kashmir and she was pretty tall...) but these women are way taller...even my wife is just 3 inches shorter to me...I'm not small by any means (6'2")!!
At least 30 percent of male population must be taller/ bigger than me.
I love football and never got intimated physically by anyone back in kolkata, but some guys here are scary...
