^^ not sure about that, but cross border shipping is easy, so shouldnt be an issue even if you need to send card from canada to US in the future.

And do consider GTX 460 1GB models. It might be bigger investment, but as you are buying it from the states, it might be worth going for that one over 5770.

Here in India pricing is screwed as usual, but its really tempting over there.
Nah..Can't spend more than 8k, GTX 460 768MB version is ~9.5k though (Wish I had that extra 1.5k)

And anyways 5770x2 (will do later) would be enough for upcoming DX11 games, right ? (At 1920x1080)

Shipping stuff from canada to the US is super easy. So, you shouldn't have any issues on that front.

Taxes are basically dependent on if the store has a physical location in that particular state or not. For example, if Amazon has even a simple backend accounts department in Colorado, you will be charged taxes. When newegg says they charge taxes in x, y & z states, that means they have physical locations in those particular states.

Does anyone here have any experience in getting something shipped to a hotel in US?

The thing is that if my product doesn't get delivered on the estimated delivery date they give or between 2-3 days of that date, my friend would have checked out of the hotel..(He will be going to a different state altogether)

They also say that sometimes the delivery takes place before the delivery date :( Same problem here

Hello,

The delivery estimate is calculated based on a few different things, including the location of the inventory of item, the delivery address, and how quickly we can put your order together and get it to carrier.

As such, if you place your order on the 5th and the delivery date is the 10th, there is a possibility that the order will arrive before the 10th or a week after. However, base on the shipping speed chosen, there are contingency plans to help correct the delay in delivery.

In addition, the availability and shipping times listed on our website are estimates, not guarantees. Unfortunately, unexpected fluctuations in our inventory occasionally happen, and that can add time to our original availability estimate. Also, the carrier might have some difficulty in delivering package and that is beyond our control.

Any solution to this?

What shipping method are you using?
Fedex/UPS should work out just fine. If you are still paranoid, once you get the tracking number, you could call up the firm and have them hold it at thier warehouse in the same city.. you could then ask your friend to go pick it up from there. Is he gonna be in each city for just the one day?

Actually, I don't know what shipping method is going to be used (Free shipping)

And my friend is going to be on an average 3-4 days in each city, that's why even if my shipment gets delayed by 2-3 days it doesn't matter, but they say that sometimes it could take a week more or sometimes they could deliver it before the delivery date and if that happens my friends wont have checked in into his hotel yet :(

They do have an option for two-day/one-day shipping but it will cost me an additional ~$15-20 which Im not willing to pay.

Hello,

As long as your order hasn't shipped and the status is not "shipping soon," you may change the shipping or billing address online, through the Order Summary in Your Account (http://www.amazon.com/your-account). Our shipping estimates--such as "Usually ships within 2 to 4 weeks"--take into account the time it takes to receive the item from our suppliers, package it, and prepare it for shipment.

Also the availability and shipping times listed on our website are estimates, at times your order may ship sooner. Normally we send you an email if this happens.

We don't currently have a way of specifying a date or time frame for the delivery of an order. However, when you add items to your Shopping Cart and fill out our order form, you'll see an estimated date of shipment displayed on the final page of the order form, just before you submit your order. That date should help you determine whether your order will arrive in time.

Additionally, after placing your order, you'll see an estimated delivery date in Your Account (www.amazon.com/your-account). If this date is later than your preferred delivery date, you may select a faster shipping method through "Your Account."

The thing I can think of is that I order my product such that the estimated delivery date be when my friend is in a city where he'll be spending the most number of days, reducing some risk...but their "delivery before delivery date" thing has to be taken into consideration too :(
