Whey Protein, where to buy!

Just a share:

Supplements are as the name implies just "supplements".

If you can't get enough protein to build muscle from eating real food...

... like the people who do silly vegan BS and don't eat meat...

... then supplements like protein powders can help.

Otherwise, you don't really need them.

That's one reason I haven't used much protein supplements over the past years.

I get my protein from eating real food like steaks, chicken, yogurt, eggs, etc.

But a ton of people don't want to cook anymore.

It's a lot easier to throw scoops of powder into a glass.

Supplement companies capitalize on that by selling "convenience"...

... and by trying to convince you that you need protein shakes to get results.

But once you know what whey is, you quickly see through their BS.

Guess what whey protein is?

A by-product of cheese.

When you curdle and strain milk, you're left with whey.

So protein shakes won't get you "steroid-like" results...

It's friggin' milk.

And you could just drink the milk instead (or eat the cheese).

In fact, weight lifters did that before supplements existed.

The cow was the weight lifter's best friend back then.

It gave them milk, cheese, butter, steaks, etc

Heck, it even gave them leather for belts.

Today it's all this powdered goop.

Three protein shakes a day BS.

No one even knows what's inside.

Take Muscle Milk: they add carbs and fats.

That's how they make it "taste so good".

But it has less protein per scoop.

Check the label: 16g/scoop.

Regular protein has 24g.

And it gets worse.

Have you heard of supplement lab tests?

Those people got so fed up with the supplement BS...

... they sent popular supplements to labs to test the content.

Guess what?

Several protein powders had 20% LESS protein than promised.

The package said 80% protein per scoop, but the tests *only* showed 60%.

That means we can't even believe the labels anymore either.

These guys are like drug-dealers cutting cocaine and adding sugar to it.

That's how they make 37 BILLION dollars a year in the US alone.

And that's why I just stick with real food.

That and lifting heavy.

P.S. Be careful with brands selling supplements way cheaper than the competition. Expensive isn't a guarantee either. But if it's really cheap, ask yourself how they can make it so cheap. There's a big chance they're sacrificing quality for profits.

Re

viving an old page. But yeah.. why the hate?
Hate was probably a strong word to use.

It used to be a great resource, the forum was great too. Then he decided to go premium. Hey your site do whatever, but it almost became cultish. He says 5x5 was inspired by Reg Park. The only thing SL has from Reg Park's 5x5 is the sets and reps. This is just Starting Strength with added sets and a change in one exercise.

Have to give the guy for getting people (to an extent) back on the strength bandwagon though.

Depends. Check out BulkSupplements and Myprotein. The prices are great and Labdoor hs given them superb ratings. Obviously ince you get it down the cost goes up but it still could work out cheaper.

The problem with Amazon is that there are a lot of negative reviews. The same product will have great reviews as well as terrible ones. How do ou make sure then that you are getting the right product ?

That's true. Just consult the PT or Gym instructor, else friends are the best reviewers..
