Graphic Cards Which 670 or Which 7970 ?

okay, my dear brother, now that we have established that sapphire 7970 is a problem, we can safely assume that it is out of consideration. Now, you can go for 670 or 7950 or 660ti. Or you can wait for MSI 7970 (which apparently does not have this problem) to reduce the price. Choice is yours. Either take the blue pill with the 3 options or take the red one for MSI...

Go with Zotac GTX 670 AMP! Costs 29,999! Far Powerful then 7970 at 1080p and even surpasses 680 :D

sagging can be Fixed . 7970 Dual-X card is Huge! Logical Solution is make some kind of Jack or anything that is small and Supports it Stable! But again that Extra Power Goes waste at 1080p or Below! Best Option is to get a 670!

That newegg solution is too small , users are complaining and anyways its not available in India :( ! is there a backplate for this card ? .

Is Zotac trustable for service and warranty , I thought Zotac had crappy service .Its warranty conditions are also confusing , if there is a problem in 2 years , contact your reseller , what if resller aint helping ? . And is there an extended warranty or not , please help in this matter am confused.
In short , does Zotac provide nice support ? .
Btw , this card is good but I cant see where it destroys the 680 or 7970 .

Or is that person a bit biased? What benchmarks you saw ? .

Yes power consumption specially the OC edition is a whole 100-130 W more in some things . Nvidia is consuming lesser power than amd :scared14: .

Thanks Sir

Check for the asus 7970 locally and see how much it costs. Or else check with SMC - their website has the MSI reference edition 7970 for 32k. I'd anyday pick up the reference edition over the most of the half baked vendor designed versions. They are always built to a cost.

If you wish to run maya or blender or softimage, I'd not touch a 6XX card with a bargepole.

Well I am going to start animation after Jan , not now so dont know what all is involved , you know it all so you help me out Sir .
Doesnt CUDA/PHYSX help in animation ?

Would the reference overclock , I read in the other thread that you have overclocked it to a GHZ edition , are the temps normal ?

That Sapphire Dual X is a great overclocker , only for its stupid overdone cooling design , it renders it useless ! .

Thanks for the reply

This is why I suggested 7970 earlier.(or better an AMD card in vague terms)

No PHYSX is only for games and CUDA is nVidia's way of saying screw you to the industry standards such as OpenGL and OpenCL; It will work with only those applications that are coded with CUDA on mind, consequentially AMD cards will be crippled while working with these, that said not many CUDA based applications are used at the student level, so as has already been hammered maybe a dozen times go for a HIS IceQ Turbo 7950 3GB OR HD7970 stock card and you are set.

The reference card when over-clocked will definitely run hotter than usual but that should not be worrisome if you have a good airflow setup inside your cabinet. Cheerio!

Its everywhere on the net , see newegg.com , Problems with Sapphire 7970 Dual-X OC Edition - A warning to owners and a request for advice , etc .

My dear brother , 7850 is a small card , 7970 dual X cooler is super huge . its approx 2.5 slot cooler , thats huge by any standard .

I was just about to finalize picking up a Sapphire 7950 OC for 23500/- when i came across this. Now my options are severely limited since i do not want to deal with Rashi (hence no XFX or Asus). I'm so thoroughly confused.

It's not the cooling but the lack of support or a bracket along the back or edge which makes it sag. The mounting holes at the end of the card aren't used to connect it to the cooler.
The sapphire Vapour-x will have a 3 week waiting period. It does have a small spine running along half the length of the card to give it some rigidity. But i don't know if i want to wait that long.

Vapor-X has More Advanced Vapor Chamber Technology more Efficient Cooling Like in 590 or 690 Itz worth the Wait But Where are u getting that in india?and At What Price Tag?

Where were you getting the 7950 at 23.5k ? .
Please share here or on PM .

The problem is the same here .
But trust me , every firm has its good and bad , I have even heard of bad zotac service .
It depends on a lot of factors ! .

But trust me I have read a lot on this sagging issue , if you got a fix or jugaad , then its ok . Otherwise in 2months approx your card will give problems without a doubt .

I'm getting it at 24900/- from Xtreme Grafix. But the 3 week wait is really putting me off.

Was he importing it or sourcing from Indian Distributor ? .

I use my graphic cards to make breakfast sometimes.

/jk

I do not plan on getting into animation.

Only gaming ?

Same guy who quoted the vapour-x also quoted the 7950 OC. I think an EK backplate should cost about 2000. That's option 1.
So a little more than 25k for the card+snazzy backplate.

Option 2 is taking a backseat because of the 3 week wait. I don't think he's importing it himself.

The reason i'm going for sapphire is because the RMA centre is in Lokhandwala and the staff is courteous and accommodating. But i wouldn't mind MSI or Gigabyte either. Just trying my best to avoid Rashi and Tirupathi. I don't want to give those two companies any money.

Maybe a trip to lamington road is in order. Sometimes legwork is unavoidable.

40-45 idle with one display, 60 with 2 displays, 70-75 under load in most games, 80 in metro 2033 which by far is the most punishing game for a graphics card I've seen so far.

Cannot be as bad Cryostasis. Have you played that.
