Graphic Cards Which 670 or Which 7970 ?

Nope never tried it after seeing the bad reviews for it :P

It was not a bad game per-se, it was atrociously under-optimized. It was as if it would run best on 'Netburst' based processors (single cores clocked high) with the best graphics systems (read nVidia GTX280 OR above only) around that time (c.2009).

Several articles are dedicated to its problems and why it performed so poorly, here are a few decent articles I could lay my hands on -- The Nocturnal Rambler: Great Games You Never Played: Cryostasis / http://asia.gamespot.com/cryostasis-the-sleep-of-reason/reviews/cryostasis-the-sleep-of-reason-review-6208532/ / Hardware Test: Mid-Range PCs : Cryostasis: From Russia, With An Appetite For Fast Hardware / What are the performance issues related to? - Cryostasis: The Sleep of Reason Message Board for PC - GameFAQs / Performance Issues - Cryostasis - Forum - - GOG.com.

I tried to play the game on medium settings with my AMD Phenom IIx4 + HD5770 and the game framed so bad that after around ~3 Chapters I gave up on it.

Which ones? I see the non GHz edition 7970 murdering the 680 in almost all games that matter barring BF3.

The games that the 680 wins are mostly irrelevant because all cards run at 100fps or more.

Ghz Edition is 100$ More then Normal 670 :P I was talking about Average 7970 vs 670!

Ummm... even Chaos Sire is talking about an average HD7970 not the GHz edition.

AnandTech - Bench - GPU12

^With above benches following points are clear --
  • Crysis and DiRT 3 are solidly under AMD's purview and capability;
  • BattleField 3, Portal 2 and StarCraft II favour nVidia as they are TWIMTBP games (apart from Portal 2);
  • Bump up the resolution and detail and somehow the AMD cards are performing better than their nVidia counterparts, which seem to run great till 1080p after which performance peters out;
  • Also over-clocking the AMD core is very easy while I cannot say the same for current generation nVidia cards.

Does anyone else want to jump on the Vapor-x bandwagon. The dealer has offering a group discount if the no of pieces crosses 5.

People from mumbai preferred as i'm doing a local pickup on my end. 24950/- and 34500/- for the 7950 and 7970 is still a better price than the quotes i got yesterday at lamington. But the aforementioned prices are not inclusive of the group discount (he has yet to get back to me on that).

The only caveat is the 2-3 week waiting period.

I'm interested in the 7970 but have a question.

If the dealer is going to import these cards specially, whats going to happen to warranties?

Also, I'm not from Mumbai so the card will have to be shipped to me as well. I will be willing to pay for shipping from Mumbai to my city.

Let me know if something can be worked out but most importantly, I want to clarify how warranties will work. I don't have a problem waiting 2-3 weeks for initial delivery but I do have issues waiting that long in case of warranty issues.

Aditya Infotech is importing them. They are the official distributors and will handle all warranty related issues. Just think of these as retail pieces which are perfectly eligible for normal warranty.

Talk about the shipping details with him. I'm only spreading the word.

You bought any card ?

Does anyone here recommend getting an EVGA card here ? . Again handled by tirupati I guess .
EVGA GTX 670 FTW seems to be a super card out there . People are getting 1.2 - 1.3 Ghz obviously depends on the chip but still its possible if you are lucky .
Also the cooler seems stock ?

The price of 7970 non reference is a bit off at the moment , I cant explain why when 7950 pricing from Sapphire has come down . Still it does not seem to affect other manufacturers , they are still offering 7950 at 30 K ??

Thanks for the reply ,
I asked because that card is the most popular 670 card .
Anyways , Then which gtx 670 ?
Also is there a top version in Asus DCUII for GTX 670 ? I cant seem to find it anywhere .

Was almost zeroed in on Gigabyte Windforce 670 OC but after reading reviews on newegg feels a bit off . Mostly all are driver and software related . Mostly all problems have something with it .
Thats not good I feel , tearing , artifacting and what not ! .

So the question is which 670 ? .

660ti I fell are too edgy , low bandwidth + very low overclocking potential . Infact only MSI seems to be having some good model , PE i guess which allows for some overclock .
Also the average frame rates seem ok but the minimum frame rates are a scare !! .
Do wanna be in a situation like after a year have to look for a new GPU to get those 50-60 fps .

Thanks for the info but I will skip in that case. Like I said in my earlier post, I don't mind waiting 3 weeks or even a month initially for delivery but I do have a problem with waiting the same amount of time for a warranty replacement.

I'm pretty sure Aditya handles sapphire warranty throughout india.
I'm waiting for 2 weeks for initial delivery. Maybe i should get the card in my hands before worrying about it going bust.
I've dealt with aditya's RMA support. While it isn't perfect, it's still better than Rashi.

My problem isnt so much regarding who is handling the warranty. Its the fact that these cards seem to be "imported specially" as per customer orders.

If so, I doubt they would be so considerate so as to order extra cards just to honor warranties.

If I am going to risk receiving a DOA card (or one that stops working subsequently) and then find its going to take months for a replacement, I would rather order it directly from abroad and save money - the risk is the same....

Why don't you try setting up a GO with some shipping deals from @shopnshipindia or other US to India forwarding guys ??
