Which electrical brand switches,wires?

Guys,

We are going to do complete overhaul of wiring sytem in my room..Need to know which electrical brand to choose,i know there are couple of few,but then this room is going to be used for my PC,an aircon...Do i have to go for those heavy duty switches for my PC similar to ones which we use for geysers,refrigderators?I think those are rated at 15A..

I was going to for anchor but then recently we had change to switch for our geyser couple of times..that has left me thinking about its quality,reliablity of their switches..

Also have been told by my electirican that anchor is closed..is it true?

Thanks mate..the reason i started this thread was due to this room belongs to me:ohyeah:&also its going to have my PC running for hours,an aircon which maybe used occasionally,which is more than enough to put load on elctrical wires...

Will try looking for lisha...:)Do these switches have any warranty??:huh:
 
^Well i don't think they have warranty,unless they are a MCB type switch,which can be used for AC/geyser.

For PC a regular 5A switch and socket would do.

Any idea why heavy duty switches switches used to fail in our case,all we could see is the smoke coming...Wont be going for that 15A switch then...

My dad had been advised to go for concealed wiring but then he refused...does it have any disadvantages?We do have this problem of water seepage in our building walls which in turn is affecting the inner wall..

Also going for T5 tubular lighting system...
 
Well they can smoke due to poor contact inside the switch or loose contact.

By concealed you mean inside the existing conduit pipe or outside with plastic channel.If water does some how sweep inside the conduit pipe it cannot cause any shortcuit or leakage,the only place it can cause trouble are inside the switchboard,for which you can install a metal box/plastic box and put white cement mixed with water proof solution.
If the inside pipe is 1" you can easily squeeze in a 2.5sqmm Finolux fire retardant wire for the rooms, 4sqm if you plan on adding a A/C and if the room also has a attached bathroom the with geyser.
 
I would say Legrand switches (mylinc range is VFM) & Polycab wires. Finolex wires are a little expensive than Polycab.

Legrand is good but they are expensive and are not available in all places.

Yup i meant inside the existing conduit pipe..my dad isnt convinced to go for concealed thing..Well for the AC we are going the for MCB...&as for switches we have told him to get both anchor,lisha..but that guy is insisting on MK switches..

@yogesh Will have a look at legrand switches if they are available ...thanks for suggestions...

@adder Any ideas about the havells switches??
 
havells are good to,look and feel nice,but i have used lisha or legrand for like 10 years or so.they still have a clean contact.if you find legrand you can go for it.

I see no reason why you can't use the old conduit pipe.nothing wrong in using a external plastic channel except the aesthetic appeal

avoid MK at all costs, expensive(though covered by warranty they do no cover burnt warranty). all we used for geysers, ac eventually got burnt (swelled up) from the inside.

and they somehow attracts a lot of ants. many switches just got dead with lot of ants in them

we have told him to get the switches,but as i had mentioned he is insisting on MK switches...Well regarding your post which you had mentioned earlier that smoke maybe due to loose contact,so need to know does that mean faulty work done by the person?

If so,then we need to hire another person for this work...

just read your post about MK switches...thanks...will avoid it then..
 
Well the smoke can be due to dirt/grease accumulation,faulty or loose connection .Mostly like is either due to loose contact or the wires connected to the switch are of low grade el cheapo ones.Connecting high powered appliances like vaccum cleaners or other devices that consume more then 5A can heat up the wire inside the switch.

Thanks mate for patiently replying to all my queries..:) Well as for the switches we have decided for lisha,legrand(if available)...Well regarding the wires need to sort out between polycab&finolex..:)
 
currently using Crabtree.quality seems good, also no contact errors as MK had with two pin switches and the three pin switches,
