First time iPad buyer. no idea on what to expect.
My usage:
1) Graphics work.
2) Secondary screen for macbook (may be)
3) Office work or communication like mails, teams and meets
4) Maybe gaming.
5) Animation like animation icons/ gif's or video (hobby) e.g. link
6) Development testing
7) Entertainment (may be)

I am looking latest M4. Confused on weather to go with 256gb, 512gb, or 1TB version. This also feels like impulse buying so the thread or else I would have opted for 1TB :nailbiting:
any one doing any of this things? also should I get the WiFi or cellular unit?

I wished, if this could have been able to run XCode, would have replaced laptop but it don't!

also should we think of buying a apple care ? was useless or me in my iphone case

Just for context, I have 2 iPad M1s lying around being useless. If I need to work, I use Macbook, If I need to watch something, I am on phone or on a smart TV. I couldn't really find a proper use case for it, and hence its just lying around.

Had same issues with all past ipads - till I added the native folio keyboard.
Now I prefer picking the ipad instead of the MBP .

It might seem like a little thing but at least for me, it totally transformed my UX - to the extent that my usage is now 60:40 in favor of the ipad (my current model is M1 12.9)

Unless you have a very specific use case that needs lot of local storage, just get the 256. Anything over that is waste of money IMO
Just use part of that money towards a larger icloud plan instead (iOS auto manages the storage by offloading older photos/videos / files and retains only symlinks locally- you dont need to do anything manually as a user to periodically clean up space )

Wifi vs cellular is a personal preference - my last ipad pro (11) was a cellular
Then covid happened and since we were at home most of the time, I got a wifi model when upgrading.
I can't say i regret it because auto latch on to the phone network works well - but it creates avoidable battery anxiety and an always on connectivity is much better if you move around.
if you are lazy like me, get the cellular else the wifi

I have WFH so wifi is whats I am on. I heard something about layers in arts/vector apps and was confused it 256gb will be sufficient or not.
