:) Happy New Year to All ..

Now between the antec Neo He 500 and the coolermaster 500 watt(i-green) which would be a better choice? Will the 500 watt models be sufficient for a mid range system running say a single 8800 gtx,2 hard disks and a dual core proccy?

p.s Any other choices available in Bangalore plz give suggestions

:) Last I knew there was probably a 2k price diff between the neo 500 and 550 watt models...will 50 watts make such a diff?

Both the Neo He 500W and iGreen 500W are good and will suffice for ur needs, tho id say the Neo He is a tad better. The cost is abt 5.8k for the iGreen and 6.2k for the Neo He

Go with the NeoHE 500, it's tried and tested. ITdepot should be able to get one for you, if you should ask them.

go for antec they are far more superior than the CM.......and I have tested the Igreen 500 watts on amd x2 5200+ with 8800 gts with 4 HDD and two DVD writers the 5 volts rail was at 4.7 and the 12 volts was at 11.8 volts.....

Why not get the Seventeam 750W ? its an excellent PSU and avlbl in Delhi for 10k or so,someone mentioned.

:)First...way beyond my budget (I am planning on 500 watts) since I plan to use a single gfx card will be enough...

Two...Prefer if available in Bangalore..(easy for me)

Three...Have not heard about this brand...(do not want to risk 6k...I will have a stroke if anything goes wrong):)

Thanks anyway:hap5:

It was me sir....I would not recommend him this PSU as it will be a overkill for the purpose raj needs.....

He will be very much Happy with Antec 550 or 500........

raj_pol...like your last point...will get a stroke if something goes wrong :) . Feel the same way whenever I buy some high end item :) . I guess the NeoHE 500 is not easily available nowadays but I have to say, it's one of the things in my system that makes me feel that it's worth the money I've paid. It gives the system a rich feeling....a feeling of quality.

Even I did not feel that the Neo HE 550W was worth the extra 2K. First of all, the Neo HE 500W is already good enough. I'm running a power hungry 130nm process fabricated 6800GT and 2 Raptor HDDs of a single line(don't know if I should be doing this but hey..no problems seen so far.) Even if you account for capacitor derating, I think 500W should be more than enough for the next couple of years.

Only if you plan to upgrade to a dual core + latest radeon gfx card, you can get an SLi ready power supply. Then it would be better to get a 750W PSU or greater.

IMO, it's hard to pay for a PSU. It's something we take for granted and value isn't really noticeable. I had to really sell it to myself first to invest in a good one. So every thousand less that you pay will make you feel better.

:) Nice to know show many guys in the forum are using the neo he...let me check this sat on the availability of the neo

Had guessed that, anyways no problem. ;)

I guess you are saying that cos you are not aware of Seventeam.Actually they make industry level Server PSU.They are not much into Desktop retail market. They make one of the best Power Supplies available in the world. If i am not wrong some of the well known brands source their PSU from them.SO you can never go wrong with Seventeam. Its definately not one of the unknown chinese brands ;) Compared to Antec...well i would say comparing Antec and Seventeam PSUs would be an insult to Seventeam. ;) Agree that the Seventeam 750 is too expensive compared to Antec BUT its leagues ahead compared to NeoHE.

Agreed, BUT PSU is an item you dont invest in regularly. Its better to get a powerful PSU at once so that it serves long and handles the future upgrades upto certain level.Trust me,i learnt my lesson, its always wise to invest in a GOOD PSU and i am sure many seniors here will agree with me. ;)

I would rephrase as, 'Every Penny you pay more for a GOOD PSU will make you happy and content in the future.' :P

Words of wisdom...thanks darky...:)
As of now I will settle for the neo he 500. Later maybe good times will roll..Who knows a year down you may have far more options in India...

p.s If you do not have an 8800gtx sli pc with water cooling and uber stuff a 750 watt psu will go to waste..
Not till the next year anyway....:hap5:
