Fuji available locally with Warranty?

the FZ35 has 8.4m flash range while HS10 has 3.1m

Well yes with manufaturer warranty,sd card & bag free it cost just a bit less then 25k.
Haven't checked the flash part, but its build quality is amazing better then fz35 ,the sony bsi sensor is being used by canon SD4000 ,nikon p100,ricoh etc and have better iso performance.

if you want a compact camera the canon g11 with a bigger sensor is also good, but @ 29k its way expensive, might as well by the olympus epl1 which is interchangeable lens camera, blows away the other cameras in this thread.

the canon S90 is again a good low light performer & takes quite good images , thanks to bigger HAD sony CCD sensor, but doesn't have a flash shoe.makes a good sidekick for dslr users.priced @ around 22k in ebay

doesn't Sony HX1 use bsi?

Well the thing is sony jpeg engine isn't the best, for eg DSLR sony A850 vs nikon D3.
But atleast the Sony DSC cameras for the most part produce better results then the nikon DSC.
The HX1 is a first generation sensor. While the one in the HS10,P100,SD4000 uses a improved sensor.

The HS10 looks and feels like a SLR where as the other cameras like the P100 and HX1 doesn't come close to ergonimcs and build quality,i belive the HX1 also uses only memory stick format, sony only started offering SD card slot in the newer models.

BTW corrected the error the S90 uses a sony CCD sensor not the sony CMOS sensor.

so if you just use it for indoors ,i believe the high zoom of fuji doesn't come in handy. So you could go with S90 or even a cheap DSLR like D3000 which costs 19k body and or with 18-55mm lens costs 23k.

so which would you buy outta P100, SD4000 & WX1?

None ,would go with the S90 in your shooting priorities which is indoors.Remeber Size for Size the BSI sensor has the edge, but no substitute for a bigger sensor as used in the S90.

S90 is good but no HD video

I'm tempted on P100 but will I lose a lot on low light performance if I buy it over a S90/SD4000?

The p100 uses the same sensor as the SD4000.but the S90 uses a bigger sensor,in image quality terms the P100 will loose to the S90.
Out of all the camera that are using the BSI sensor nikon have the worst image compared to other BSI sensor based camera like the HS10(by worst i mean slightly lower IQ not worst).

Why not a DSLR like D3000?

Well I need people to take pictures for me so can't exceed 500gms including batteries :P

D3000 is 570gms & also complicated because of interchangeable lens

^^

Just get a AIO lens like 18-200 and be done with it. And get the Canon 1000D, If possible. but weight will increase, yes.

Go for DSLR dude, Nikon D3000 or Canon 1000D is available in market for ~23k. Go for DSLR as you can have maximum customization ability with DSLR cameras for lenses :)

leaning towards the Canon S90, Canon SD4000, Panasonic DMC-LX3, Olympus E-PL1, Olympus E-P1 & Samsung NX10

how are those?

also check out Nikon D5000, Canon 500D & Pentax K-x

EPL1 is the better ones compared to other similar NX10 but is priced at 30k.You might also wait for the cheaper sony NEX cameras best in class high iso performance better then the previous class leading EOS 550D and has HDR.
If you do go for a fixed lens camera the S90 is your best bet.

@others he made it clear he wants a light camera which isn't complex.

NEX comes bundled with the external flash.the LX3 is also a good choice, but isn't as good as the S90 in low light performance.
