In the olympus EPL1 get the 14mm-42mm(adding the 2x crop factor in 35mm terms its 28mm-84mm) and the NEX3 is bundled with 16mm prime lens great for indoors but has you know with it has no zoom.If you want zoom then you will need the 18-55mm lens.Udit said:ok now suggest some all purpose lenses for Olympus E-PL1, Olympus E-P1 & Sony Alpha NEX-3

No their respective kit lens,if you do like to spend a quite a lot then for the EPL1 the panasonic 20mm F1.7 lens will be better for indoors, the sony NEX currentlt has few lens they will add more lenses latter onUdit said:any brand lens?
also could you explain flash sync speed & fill-in flash?
D3000 is the cheapest DSLR,both are pretty much the same the canon has the slight IQ edge, but the nikon has better ergonomics, the sony A230 camera which has the same sensor as the d3000 is your other option which is soon going to be replaced by the A290 with a CMOS sensor.coolraghav said:even i need help and plan to go croma today..
I really wanna go for DSLR but a starting models only as I've to click pics of our products etc .. and maybe use it for family usage too..
so Nikon D3000 or Canon 1000D are my good options in that pricing ? or do you recommend any other ?
which lens will I get with Olympus E-PL1adder said:No their respective kit lens,if you do like to spend a quite a lot then for the EPL1 the panasonic 20mm F1.7 lens will be better for indoors, the sony NEX currentlt has few lens they will add more lenses latter on
Well its basically synchronizing the flash with shutter i,e when the shutter is fully open here is a easy to understand Understanding the Flash Sync Speed - Digital Photography Tips and Techniques and may be other photography gurus can add.
Fill in flash is nothing but using the flash to in say in outdoors where there is lots of light in the background the camera may under expose the object or the person in the foreground, with the flash the person will be illuminated more ,hence at close distances the person won't be under exposed.
I'm confused between Canon 550D & Olympus EPL-1 but EPL-1 fits my budget & weight requirementsadder said:the 14mm-42mm lens. The EPL-1 like other olympus cameras have one of better JPEG engines,if you look at that way the EPL1 would turn out to better then EOS 550D,but the EPL1 will loose in the High ISO performance vs NEX and canon 550d.
The sony firwmare will also be updated, since these cameras are supposed to get 3d videos capability.
adder said:Well then just go with epl-1,no idea about the availability of panasonic lenses, atleast i haven't seen them in camera stores.
the nex hasn't yet been released in 90% of the world,it will have various firmware updates since it still doesn't support the autofocus in their own alpha lenses & zeiss lens, and previous firmware update like in A700 made a huge difference in image quality,i believe EPL-1 has also had firmware updates . Zeiss will also be releasing their lenses for nex.
NEX will be cheaper then EPL-1,which in turn may force olympus to lower the prices, currently nex is one of top most selling camera in japan ever since its launch a week ago,a very first for sony since a long time, far higher then olympus.
Not to confuse you but have a look at panasonic GF1,the drawback is the price.
Udit said:I'll buy the EPL-1 for 25k from jjmehta or locally.
didn't like the GF1, GH1 & GH10.
NEX-3 menu system will bug other family members & also it has a no zoom lens by default.
Reviews say NEX-3 has lacking Video mode too.
Plus no Hot Shoe.
Olympus has an amazing JPEG engine I read everywhere.
I know it has a video mode but it's lacking according to reviewsadder said:Well you can't go wrong with EPL1.i assume your family members will mostly be shooting in auto mode in jpeg.
just to clear things nex 3 does have video mode .The UI won't be of any issue for your family members here is a handbook of using the NEX http://www.alphaforum.net/info/pdf/NEX Handbook.pdf .
actually I don't need zoomb_naresh said:^If you don't plan to buy additional lenses, you need to rethink about buying an interchangeable lens camera in the first place...maybe a prosumer P&S(FZ35) is what you need. You may not like being restricted to an effective focal length of 28-84mm offered by the kit lens of these cameras.
perfect so I'm buying the Sony NEX-3 with the 18-55mm F3.5 for $600 next monthadder said:Well i don't know a point and shoot camera that can match the image quality of those and for indoor shoots the kits lens should be more then enough. So yes it should be more then enough for 3 to 4 years.
