Which Sound Card?

the difference is gonna be minimal.

I wouldn't be surprised if the SQ form the headphone actually deteriorates (for the reason mentioned in my earlier post...Most likely, the Xonar won't have enough power in the o/p stage high grade op-amps to drive a good can properly - It's not what those op-amps would be designed to do)

I would expect the Auzentech (being a more consumer oriented card) to have more powerful (albeit at the cost of distortion) op-amps

PS: I don't have personal experience with either of the cards-- And frankly, if you want a new Sound card just coz you are bored of your existing snd card, why not donate the money to a good cause instead :P

actually the reason to upgrade is pci-e as I want to crossfire & doing that will block one of the two pci slots on my Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 & since both my tv tuner card & sound card are pci I'll get stuck

@superczar - both cards are consumer cards :) but i'd rather stick to a Auzunetech if i had the only option of changing it to a D2x.

thanks a ton you really helped :)

I still prefer the Titanium over the Xonar. The EAX5 support is there, Crystaliser is great and more importantly its quality is the same as the D2X, actually better if you look at purely synthetic tests.

live encoding on vista 64bit?

@vNerd: no offence mate but can u tell me:

1. which are the EAX 5 supporting games?
2. How good is a technology which potentially colorizes music?

now I'm confused

can anyone tell me whether cmss 3d, crystallizer & eax 5 are worth it or not ?

LOL I have a creative 4.1 inspire speakers

Doesn't make any diff in what I use. Currently using a very old (2nd hand)400 rs SB Live and it sounds 80% same to me even with a borrowed altec lansing 4121 and my speakers

For me I like the Crystalizer because it increases the mids too and that I really like. Most of the songs I hear have strong vocals and the 5500 sucks in the mids.

Z5500 sucks everywhere. What you need are different speakers with uncompressed sources and not crystallizer. The latter is just an inverted gaussian over the frequency range. Mids are actually suppressed.
