Intel planning price cuts across its consumer SSD lineups - TechSpot News

The lower-capacity models of the SSD 320 series will remain untouched, but the 300GB is expected to start at $464 instead of the previous $519, while the 600GB will fall almost $200 from $1,059 to $879.

The SandForce based SSD 520 series will see cuts nearly across the board: the 60GB model will go down 9% from $109 to $99, the 120GB unit goes down from $189 to $139, the 180GB variant from $279 to $199, the 240GB from $349 to $259, and finally the 480GB model gets a massive 37% cut from $809 to $594.

Meanwhile the SSD 330 series, launched just three months ago, is also bound for cuts across the board. The 60GB model goes down from $94 to $69 (26.5% cut), the 120GB unit from $149 to $104 (30.2% cut), and the 180GB variant from $234 to $154 (34.1% cut). That’s as low as $0.70-$0.85 per GB.

VR-Zone says the changes will likely take effect in August.

^I know about this news already ;) Almost finalized on Crucial m4, but Prime is providing 2 yr warranty instead of 3. About the Intel price cuts, it'll take at least couple of months or more to affect Indian market, right?? & I'm a very impatient guy! :p Although Intel 520 @ 9-10k with 5 yr warranty does sound worth waiting for!

^^ Are you sure about the 2 yr warranty? It says three year warranty on both the prime site as well as onlyssd, so just wondering..

Also prime has a Today's Deal on the 128GB m4 @ 8200/- :)
Crucial 128GB m4 2.5 inch SATA 6GBs SSD
Yes, I mailed 'em about it & 2 years is what they said. Maybe they should correct it on their product pages.
Awesome deal! But I'm still unsure if I should wait for Intel 520 price drop next month or go for Crucial m4 now!

I think I'm getting SanDisk Extreme 120GB! ;) I know it's sandforce, but I'm reading plenty about it & I cannot find any issues reported with it. Performance wise it's up there with Intel 520 & Plextor M3P. Also in Tom's chart it's in tier 3 along with Samsung 830 & Corsair Performance Pro.

3 years of Prime warranty @ 8.2k! :)

Sorry to say but you are not fully informed.

According to anandtech, intel 520 ssd have intel tweaked firmware for sand force controller which makes intel confident to give 5 yrs warranty.

Another point is intel uses topmost quality NAND for its ssd as it hold majority stake at imft ( company which is major NAND manufacturer ) so has better quality NAND.

So don't compare intel 520 sandforce to other company sandforce ssd.

Sorry to barge in, but looking to pickup a SSD today, confused between the Crucial M4 and the OCZ Vertex 4 128GB. How do these drives compare after being more than 50% full ? most likely my OS and app install would take up atleast 80GB.
