Why am I tagged as anti Indian?

As usual I had no idea about the Facebook messenger room. A MBBS class mate of mine introduced it to me yesterday as he was organising a session among the 2003 pass-outs of National Medical College.
Due to some time difference I joined about 30 minutes late and was patiently listening to my old buddies speak ( old memories always feel great!!)
The discussion was going along fine till 3 people started justifying the lockdown ( their main reasoning- Modi thinks so, and he is the wisest Indian, as he orchestrated surgical attacks on Pakistan...etc.etc.)
I kept on listening very patiently and decided not to engage in a heated argument with people I still care for.
Suddenly, Santanu, the guy who planned this session and invited everyone, requested me to speak as I am the only one who was directly involved in this ( 6 guys are in UK, but they are in non related specialties)
I clearly told them that since I'm not in India physically, it's better for me to only listen. But they insisted and I explained them briefly about how little we know about the virus epidemiologically, why practically there is no chance of an effective vaccine for now ( it's very easy to explain these to doctors)
Finally when I started talking about the Indian situation and asking questions about Modi's decisions, there was a visible change in expressions in many. I kept talking, suddenly someone said " tui ar Indian nei, bideshini ke biye kore oder moto hoye gechish" ( you are not an Indian anymore, after marrying a foreigner, you have become like them)
I stopped there and disconnected.
Many of them apologized later over phone and WhatsApp and I don't carry any ill feelings towards them.
However something is continuously bothering me, these are all highly educated individuals, some of them went to US/UK/ Germany for higher studies. How did Modi/ BJP become synonymous with India even for these people?
And why this hate if you marry someone from other countries? (I felt it almost everywhere, specially in North India)

This is quiet normal as everyone will stand by their own county weather right or wrong though here there is nothing wrong except for the course of action which we are already discussing in this thread.
And this patriotism and hate would have been normal for any countryman if someone who is of & belongs to their soil and they think is no more related to it while speaks something against their land (govt. here) & etc.

And its quite true, majority of the public supports Modi though initially he was hated by majority of these very Indians when one fine night he discreetly announced demonetization to curb black money which literally yielded negligible result in all these years.
I too support him in few reforms but people are blindly believing in the govt. as if its the only messiah who will bring them out of covid situation & bringing some revolution.

People have already lost faith in themselves and are totally relying on what govt. decides its further course of action. Hence I said, these very people will even go underground completely and indefinitely in the name of lockdown without uttering a single word if govt decides so. This is the current situation to which I will say "modern superstition".
I sincerely pity and mercy these people who have lost their own voices... No comments further!

It's not just India it's the same everywhere, one man's clown is another man's hero.
It's the same with Trump,Trudeau, Macron, Bolsonaro, Erdogan, Maduro, Duterte, etc these are all divisive characters in their respective nations, these leaders know what people want to hear and use it to great effect to make it to the top.
The very nature of politics is divisive to the point it's almost like religion, people get put into ideological camps like left, right, center, etc
Then they have to defend their leader to death because it matches their ideology.

Depending on which camp they join they lose objectivity and begin to vilify and use derogatory terms for another like libtard, bhakt, khangressi, AAPtard, etc instead of discussing in a civil manner.
There is no point discussing with such people, even if you make a valid argument they will accuse you of being in the opposite camp.

But why bring personal life in this context? What does my wife got to do with my hatred towards Modi?
She possibly doesn't even know about BJP and can't even pronounce Modi's first name.

Even in Twitter similar things happened. BJP's brilliant IT cell dug out my identity, they didn't even leave my wife alone and dug out her old pictures with her ex in some beach @ Croatia ( but mistaken her as American) and accused me of being US spy!!
They called me pseudo Indian because my hair and beard is brownish!!
And finally they blocked the handle ( as almost 15 thousand Indians were following me)

As a matter of fact, I'm a follower of Swami Vivekananda and given modi's history with Ramkrishna Mission, I used to respect him.

Gosh! What do you twitter as it went to this extent?

Nothing, leaked some documents, rubbish maps, exposed the shitty ventilators...and of course attacked THE KING and demanded for his educational qualifications along with some key people in health ministry.
Requested to show one single doctor working in India as " Corona specialist" with any prior experience with single viral epidemic.
Challenged the mylab kit's specifications, amplification factor, number of sample wells in a single kit among many other things.
I had probably less than 50 followers, within 10 days, it became 15 thousands!!
I'm not a tech savvy person, but have plenty of experience in this field of medicine.
A YouTuber friend Akash Banerjee made videos about some of those. He started getting threats.
He contacted some big TV journalist ( Ravish / Rajnish Kumar) He is possibly very influential and isn't afraid of political backlash and made some TV reports ( possibly NDTV) , I didn't watch it, as it was in Hindi and I was in Spain.
But my last handle is still blocked completely.
But I NEVER EVER brought their family members/ personal scandals in Twitter.
I've no interest in their personal lives ( they must be extremely boring and at most, they may have some extra marital affairs with Sita/ Gita etc. There's nothing interesting there)
Though some of those scumbags seem more interested in our sex lives than the Corona. I was planning to give them a detailed description of that too.

Buddy, since you have mentioned the Akash Banerjee

Their is very good video on his channel -
.

Just see this and you will understand. In all, what we can do is either support the India as its our motherland (this doesn't mean we favor modi - if he has done any good - we will say its good - if he has done anything wrong - it will be wrong only), this doesnt makes us Pro Congress. Probably people are loosing their sight over being nationalist (doesnt mean we are not) and that what this video is all about.

Their is one more similarity - if you can find the archives on Hitler's speech and compare it with our beloved PM's - you will find common words like Mitro ;)

Yes, I follow Akash closely, he's a childhood buddy. Used to work as radio jockey earlier. He's a major in history. A very decent guy, who introduced me to current political scenario in India.
I'm a complete left winger, he's in the opposite end of the spectrum. But we both equally hate the GOD.
My grandfather in law witnessed German invasion in former Czechoslovakia, have heard many horror stories from him ( he will be 103 next year!!)

Please watch Akash's episode on Tagore. A very well made, extensively researched video.

School and College groups online for people who are old feels like Whatsapp uncle and aunties group. I am baffled with the talks and stuff shared by people who fell off the rails somewhere in life journey. People who I knew are like I dont know them anymore. Good filter though with whom to engage in and not

Because for a majority of Indians: Modi is Father of the nation, knows everything, has done everything right till now, and hey how dare you question, surely you must have some malafide intent to derail India from the track of progress?
As psyph3r mentions a country is made by emotional fools. Not by rational decisions.

Nationalism/Patriotism is like religion.

^^ Cool username mate, Slayer rules!!

Very true...we are definitely in that uncle/ aunty age group. I'm ok being called anti Indian by now. But it hurts when people ( even my old classmates, some of them stayed at our place @ Geneva only 3/4 years ago) brings my wife in this context.
She has absolutely nothing to do with politics. Things have gone so bad that I don't even utter the word India at home.
From now on, I will never invite any classmate from India when they come here. I will gradually cut the few remaining ties with India.

I will regret such an able person is going to sever ties with my country.
But I can't deny the fact that we Indians deserve this.
This regression is our own choice.

I again thank you for all the care and considerations you have given us.

Come on!! I'm no one, just another noob with some interest in tech.
India was my country too...even in 2014, didn't know, life will change so much in next five years.
Being called anti Indian, gaddar etc. doesn't bother me anymore.
But this very personal attack is affecting family life. My wife never ever talked anything remotely objectionable about India even to me ( she was almost molested there)
But the mere mention of India after that Facebook video call ( she's a doctor too and was sitting beside me, and understands bits and pieces of Bengali) visibly upsets her and she kind of blames herself for my anti Indian/ traitor image even amongst my classmates ( she knows some of them, who stayed at our place and few even went to visit nearby touristy places in Austria, Poland etc. with us)
I'm a selfish person and family always comes before a country for me, and this woman sacrificed a lot for me.
And the NA/ AA members from India will forever remain my brothers/ sisters.

you are dealing with humans. humans are stupid and emotional, that's what makes them human.

There is a famous quote by Seneca about religion. it goes like this... "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful". This is truer than ever when you replace religion with patriotism in modern day. Many soldiers' lives are spent in the name of patriotism :disappointed:

No matter whether educated or an illiterate, when they run out of logical arguments, they start attacking personally, it satisfies their ego to hurt another, just ignore such people and move forward.

People always want to believe there is a savior. And modi presented himself as fodder to these thoughts. Decades of meticulous marketing created brand Modi as we see today. And the brand created fans. And fans always willfully turn a blind eye at reality (that's why fans are always great to have). They need no reason.. no proof.. nothing. They just dwell in their clouds not bothering to look down into the reality (probably afraid, as reality hurts them as it will besmirch their idol).

I remember during the 2014 elections, i had a quite a lot of friend who rooted for Modi. I asked each one of them why they were supporting him, whether they can recount me one good thing he did. They were clueless.. but went on supporting Modi all the same. That is the power of branding yourself into a Hero like image.. To hell with election manifesto, ideologies, policies and all the bull shit.. all you need is a 'Hero' to win elections and to get the people follow you like faithful puppies.
