PC Peripherals why do u love MX5021??

5.1 isn't abt reproduction - its abt how well u place them & then how sound card manuplates the DD/DTS or up-mixes stereo to prologic /II or interactive standards. none of the sound cards other than PRO emu/julie can do justice to it.

No offense but I don't understand what one means from "Sound Reproduction" from 5-6k speakers ---&&&--- speakers alone. I'm not talking abt PRO-Level euipment but Man when one is considerate abt *proper* reproduction of sound, u must understand its a coalated effort from ur Source, ur Passthrough, ur DAC & then ur speakers. It becomes more cumbersome when ur trying to hear Stereo Music upmixed to 5.1, it will be 80% shit *reproduced* as per a soundcard(incl. audigy etc) outputting to speakers directly. Abt the 5.1, even if u get descent sound, where are u going to install those tiny winkies?? if u install them at much distance u loose sound as their output isn't that much, & if u place them on table, ur joking the Sarround system discretion. Its more abt proper placement in 5.1 rather than 6 speakers.

I don't know how clear I am on my point up above, May be chaos can explain it better but its all abt not going in for the no. of speakers but Quality coming to the ears. Thats what u call reproduction. MX5021 own the road for that with that price tag.

now that is Exactly y i didn opted for a okayish 5.1 channel speakers and burnt a hole in my pocket for MX ..

Until and unless one has the space, the imagination and the sense to utilise the 5.1 channel speakers .. its a wastage of money .. one may add a good sound card as well to the above mentioned factors..

I dnt hav a state of the art Sound Card right now.. bt stil these speakers are simply Super..

I think I gotta have my ears checked then... after reading all mates replies

Also it wasnt ATP3... Every1 knows the sleek looking thin ATP3!!

I didnt tell anywhere that MX5021 was for 3-3.5k .. I just said that, I heard the MX5021 at a store and it had bass lowered and still it felt too much at that level. After 10min of hearing I was feeling like my head was hit by a slegehammer (mayb I'll do an CT scan to check my brain as well)...

Aftering hearing the price for MX5021 I thought it was waste spending so much and mayb 5.1 or 4.1 for 3.5k would b a better option... I think most ppl praise the MX5021 only for it volume, not for its sound reproduction... For my damaged ears it didnt sound perfect sound reproduction... I think if u hear to symphonies u'll realize what I mean!!

if you want accurate sound reproduction my man, forget your PC speakers, or even your high end consumer audio ones, maybe you want to shell out 25k+ for studio monitors??(just the starting models) oh and by the way, even with THEM you wont get accurate sound reproduction because your room isnt really acoustically treated, is it??

the MX'es are pretty darn good at what they do, at their price. and yes, you want to listen to the music the PC.. yes?? unless ur gonna use DVD-A's or SACD's forget about "accurate sound reproduction" from any other file format.

^^Naa CDs have more than enuf dynamic range to be a bottleneck... unless you are talking about the new "pop pop" cds . Biggest issue with DVD-A and SACD is that you cant use an external DAC with them. Frickin idiotic if you ask me . Junk that music companies do in the name of copy protection :(. So given the choice between SACD/DVD-A and plain old redbook cd audio, i'd choose the latter. If i'm looking for some timepass and tweaking, I'd grab vinyl :D.

true that, but when cd masters are made, they make sure there is enough headroom to minimize the bottleneck. not so when mastering SACDs/DVD-A's

EDIT: and yeah, vinyl just plain rocks :D

I think I was expecting a little too much from the MX5021 which is priced at 8k... Lemme tell u the entire story on how it all began...

I had been to my cousin's place who got a new Creative Gigaworks 500(or 550) for $200. I converted it to Rs. 9000 (silly me.. I have to do that CT for sure).... So I went to buy some good speakers for myself. I had heard a lot about Mx5021 from all ya guys and so first asked the shop to play it... I couldnt find the GigaWorks anywhere... Just now I called another shop and he told me that the Gigaworks wuld cost me close to 20k. Damn such a huge price diff...

Thats comparison is what I think made me dislike the mx5021....

As far as PC speakers go the best I've heard was some KEF speakers...dont remember the exact model though... As for home theatres I've found the Bose speakers at InOrbit showroom to be of the best quality...

But Im not a richie-rich... so in mediocre pricing (as per US price).... I thought the GigaWorks is definately value for money!!

^^So you are a bosophile :p. Now I can understand why u hate the mx5021 lol. Search for Gigaworks G500 and see the reviews.... they are not pretty :p.

^^Frankly tell me what is the best speaker you've heard in your life? Don't tell me those G500 gigaworks .

Frankly tell me... whats the best speakers u've heard?? Im sure u own gr8 speakers :hap2: What music do u listen to?? Dont u think surround sound (read 4.1/5.1/7.1) can produce ambience of real studio or live shows?? or does 2.1 beat surround by ur opinion???

^^Dynaudio Confidence C2. Surround sound is a load of bull. All thats required is two speakers to reproduce music as all music is stereo :p.

Is that true?? Is all music stereo?? So...the sounds from different surround speakers isnt real?? Thats enlightening.... I need some more knowledge  . Please share some more info here on how surround never works :ashamed:

I dont like CNET reviews...but found that they reviewed the MX5021 Altec Lansing MX5021 Reviews. PC Speakers Reviews by CNET.

IMO, satellite speakers themselves are a BOSE publicized con.Other than WAF, i dont see any other use.

floorstanders FTW :hap2:
