Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration error

I can understand the trouble in reinstalling windows on a work laptop.
Don't anticipate anything from past experience, there's no harm in trying auto created restore point after taking essential backup but consider it as last option.
This youtube video provided in the above link isn't' loading, but I can see winsock reset failed as mentioned in 2nd last line. access denied. you've run ip reset command as administrator ?
I can see only this under system restore

Wasn't a restore point created properly?

ipconfig /all taken from the laptop https://pastebin.com/Fj27yKW4 (have now disabled all other adapters except the wifi one) Same thing from a pc on the same wifi https://pastebin.com/sDC4gsAQ Using my phone's hotspot as a wifi connection. Samsung phone. Jio sim.

Honestly I'm out of ideas now. However one thing I'd do is check the box while uninstalling the driver. That just removes the system created backup installation files, not the one you download. Once that is done, reboot and reinstall the driver from HP site.
Are you able to access internet over USB cable? Please check it once. You'd need to enable network sharing over USB on your phone.

I tried installing the one from the HP site but that download file just unzips various folders and nothing could be installed. Can you check that yourself? https://support.hp.com/us-en/driver...b500-notebook-pc-series/9068229/model/9329819

Can you share steps as in how to do that in a Samsung phone?

Instead of searching automatically, select the option which points to a local folder and point to the folder containing the .inf file.

For USB, the option is called usb tethering. Should be under the same location where hotspot option is available.

checked that check box for show more restore points ?

When you've enabled only Wifi and disabled all other adapters on laptop, I can see there's no default Gateway provided for your wifi adapter,
Something isn't right with the network config.

PFA

The problem started a few days back. The system restore is of first week. Few questions-
1. Will it restore only the c:? Will the rest of the drives remain unaffected?
2. How to verify the restore point's files?
3. Are you sure that it will eradicate the problem?
4. Should I take the backup of the whole drive?
5. System restore automatic takes backup till a week before?

Any last fix for this?

Followed these steps one last time, please check the screenshots

a. https://superuser.com/questions/1037686/windows-10-ipconfig-renew-not-working
Your wireless LAN adapter Wifi does have an IP address. ipconfig /renew will not renew adapters that have no connection. Every computer with wireless and an Ethernet port will have an error like this if they are not both connected.

b. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...i-try-to/e0541113-cc92-40e6-84fa-1ebb8ac0fd24
netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip stop
netsh int ip start

c. https://windowsreport.com/wi-fi-valid-ip-configuration-windows-10/
Followed the commands in step 2
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset

Then followed this https://davidvielmetter.com/tricks/netsh-int-ip-reset-says-access-denied/

And then it showed this

Then followed these commands from the same link (enabled all other adapters)
ipconfig/release
ipconfig/flushdns
ipconfig/renew

Result-

Please check this too

+ @nRiTeCh @Silent47Assassin Please check this post one last time.
As you mentioned its a work laptop and you may not have admin rights and that you have tried almost everything, its better to escalate to your office IT team to troubleshoot or reinstall OS.
It's my own laptop but to get the company softwares installed I will have to visit them in other state which is a mess.

The only working solution I can suggest at this point would be the alternative approach of using USB tethering to use internet for now. I'm assuming that you have deleted the drivers and reinstalled them but it is still not working.

From the pastebin link, I see your IPv6 is still enabled. Please disable it once. Also 169.254.x.x indicates it is an invalid IP, likely because your gateway IP isn't being detected by Windows.

When using wifi router, default gateway is the IP of router, but when using Hotspot I guess gateway is provided by network.
In WIFI adapter settings choose automatically provide IP and DNS via DHCP.

I forgot if you've not restarted, try restarting your samsung phone. Like a complete reboot for your netrwork,

1. Will it restore only the c:? Will the rest of the drives remain unaffected?
2. How to verify the restore point's files?
3. Are you sure that it will eradicate the problem?
4. Should I take the backup of the whole drive?
5. System restore automatic takes backup till a week before?

1. Yes, it will restore C: only but I'm not 100% sure I 've not used restore feature for years and I simply turn off restore after windows installation.
2. No need to verify anything, just select choosing the date in your case it's 6/7/2021
3. Not sure, but 90-99% chances.
4. Yes, backup is recommended.
5. yes, All system settings will revert to that date, all system settings and changes made after 6/7/2021 will be lost. (files folders created or deleted, softwares installed or uninstalled etc.)

if your system was working well on 6/7/2021 then it should work the same way after restoring to 6/7/2021 backup point.
when nothing is working why not give it a try at last.

They can do it remotely easily.
Not allowed, some weird policy. I will have to give a reason for the same too.

Will get back about this

Disabled it but the result was the same

What does this mean and how to resolve this?

Even if it is provided by the network, the same wifi via hotspot is working fine in all other systems. This is the ipconfig /all report of the laptop in question
and this is of some other system
Check the values under Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi. Any way that I can fix it?

In WIFI adapter settings choose automatically provide IP
Already selected this option. The adapter says unidentified network, but if I fill in the numbers manually it displays the name of the ssid/wifi but the same issue is there. Check the screenshots and what I have mentioned in them here https://techenclave.com/threads/wi-fi-doesnt-have-a-valid-ip-configuration-error.199647/post-2288526

and DNS via DHCP.
From where to select this?

Thanks for clearing the doubts about system restore. Will have to swallow the hard pill if nothing else works soon :( Are you sure that data in other drives will remain the same?

The gateway should be auto detected when DHCP is enabled on the AP end (your phone in this case). Somehow that handshake is not happening correctly. Not sure why.

Please double check that none of these services are disabled.

BTW, since you only have system restore enabled for c drive, it will only update data in that drive. It wont modify anything on other partitions.

Check if those listed services are running or if their state is manual then set it to automatic and reboot your laptop.

Few services were stopped, few were set to manual. Enabled them all and set them all to automatic.
Enabled TCP/IP like this
https://windowsjet.com/enable-simple-tcp-ip-services-in-windows-10-quick-steps-627/ as it was not in services.msc hope it's okay
Good idea to follow steps mentioned here?

Wireless Zero Configuration is the last service mentioned here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...s-needed/e032fa8d-7f91-4cee-b771-2748fb81573b I am not able to find it in the services.msc

Tried the cmd command as mentioned here but same result https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/F...iguration-startup-type?forum=vistawirelesssdk

Any help? + @nRiTeCh

Wireless Zero Configuration is same as WLAN Autoconfig. MS decided to rename it.
Already running and set to automatic.

I am so tired. I have done everything and you guys have helped me like anything. Thank you @Silent47Assassin @nRiTeCh @Nitendra Singh Will go for the system restore thing. Please guide about the same with more inputs if possible.

Screenshots from the laptop

From the pc using the same hotspot and everything working fine

Hope 802.11n and 802.11bgn isn't the issue

No. Wireless b & g are older standards than n.

I see you have the USB dongle connected to your PC. Can you connect it to your laptop and see if the new adapter is detected and that the issue (does not) exist with the new adapter? If the same thing happens with the new one then you can be sure its an OS issue, else it can also be a hardware problem on the laptop, though that is unlikely.

That is a wifi adapter. I did connect it and got the same issue. Check this post https://techenclave.com/threads/wi-fi-doesnt-have-a-valid-ip-configuration-error.199647/post-2288066

Connected the phone to the laptop via usb cable, usb tethering that is and got this

Later on it changed to unidentified network like it does with the wifi

Note one thing from the second ss. The ipv4 is nowhere to be found, like here https://techenclave.com/threads/wi-fi-doesnt-have-a-valid-ip-configuration-error.199647/post-2288671 . I think with so many fixes that I have tried including the registry edit one's it has messed up something real bad. Any way to rectify this? Will system restore be able to resolve this?
