Graphic Cards Will a HD 5850/GTX 460 be bottleneck-ed by my rig?

I'm gonna get a new gfx card and a psu, and was thinking, about this.

My rig comprises of
| Intel C2D E7500 | GA-G31M-S2L | BenQ E 2200 HD | Corsair 2 GB @ 800 MHz | 160 GB + 500 GB | MX 518 |

Now my question is that will the E7500 be a bottleneck? It is currently clocked at 3.4 GHz. And i do not wish to overclock it any further.

If not the E7500, is there anything else that might be a bottleneck?

Also i am hoping a Corsair VX 550 wont be an overkill for a new GTX or a 5850 + ^ that rig right?

Get VX450, not VX550 for it

Although the more the merrier but that is if you have no money issues with buying VX550 but IMHO you dont need it

assuming you would be gaming at FullHD.

the biggest bottleneck rightnow i see is your 2GB ram.

make it 3 or 4.

bottleneck would be there with E7500 @ 3.4GHz but nothing serious at that resolution.

little it OC may yield better frames but that may not be necessary if you are fine with anything above 30fps.

vx450 is more than enough for that rig

At your resolution you should be fine. Though if you can get the CPU around 3.7-3.8 it would be good. It should reach 4.00 quite easily -- though on OEM HSF.

Yeah Full HD it is, one of the main reasons to upgrade.

Money is a thing but I want this PSU to last 5 years or more actually, and after getting a job maybe i might upgrade every 6 months like many peeps here :P Also i'm looking forward to buy an I5 + some mobo combo next year, so keeping all of that in check.

Will the CPU bottleneck be significant? I understand that some games nowadays prefer quad cores or more, but what about normal games that support Dual cores or something like that? Upto 5 FPS its OK, but more than that might be sad. I might OC it to 3.6 but i'm not considering to OC it like a b1tch..

If i were happy with 30 FPS i wouldn't invest 15.5k for a card bro :D

I might be able to buy a CPU cooler after 2 months or so but i'm gonna be all outta cash after buying a sapphire 5850 + VX 550 most probably.

with 30fps, i mean to say that things are not quiet noticeable to some beyond that. and im talking about average and min fps closer to 30fps at FullHD in the game you would prefer. That is pretty decent thing.

HD5850 consumes power less than 4870.

vx450 shall take a quad along with that pretty well, but as they say, why not buy it if you can afford it :P

there is like price difference of 1100 over TE itself, so if you can think of that as an investment for 5yrs then it would be worth it. not that vx450 would be any short on your usage... as long as you prefer gaming at FullHD, cards capable of gaming at FullHD will only become cheaper and less power hungry as time goes..that is the general case.

if you see yourself buying a monster card in your future then vx550 would be better choice. :)

I do, and i hope they do get power efficient, cause then i'll be able to SLI/Crossfire :P

Vx450 can Handle a 5870 too btw, and I see no problem in i5+5850 whatsoever (regarding PSU)

At that resolution (1920x1080) the CPU wont be playing a major part but your GPU will be stressed.

If I were you (I dont know how well off you are :P) I would buy 2gb Ram+VX450+5850 and then if im not happy I would OC it further a bit. I think your proccy has enough juice left to last you maybe even a year

Guys is it worth upgrading to a VX 450 as i have a Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 600W, and it has an efficiency of 70% (420w), so should i be upgrading my PSU from it to a VX 450? makes little sense to me :/
