My Win2k SP4 install works great, but it has one problem. It won't boot without the Windows 2000 CD in the drive. Sometimes it gives me the "hal.dll is missing" , sometimes another error (I dont remember but I'll reboot in a bit and see what it is and come post it). I'm afraid to repair installation because, with my luck, it will screw something up. It did it from a fresh install on a fresh-formatted hard drive.

For the missing hall.dll error, boot to the recovery console and run bootcfg /rebuild and fixboot.
For the ntldr missing error, copy the file from the Windows 2000 disk to the C drive in recovery console.
