Wow! looks like 64bit Vista Home Premium is available nowhere!
Windows Vista Alternate Media
Congratulations on upgrading to Windows Vista. The retail package product ships on DVD with 32-bit edition software, but two forms of alternate media are available to help meet your specific requirements:
32-bit CD
If your system features a CD drive but no DVD drive, you can order Windows Vista on CD-ROM. The installation files span multiple discs, so unattended installations are not possible.
64-bit DVD
If your system features a 64-bit processor, you can take advantage of its advanced design by ordering 64-bit software media. You'll get the same interface, features, and functions, but you'll get them in an operating system that takes advantage of access to vastly more memory. All installation files are on a single disc. Please note that 64-bit media is included in the box with the purchase of Windows Vista Ultimate.
The 64-bit version of Windows Vista is not for everyone. Please confirm that your system, applications, and devices are compatible with a 64-bit edition of Windows Vista before installing. Learn more about the 64-bit editions of Windows Vista.
You can order either of these alternate media for a minimal fee, including shipping and handling. To order, you'll need to supply the 25-character product key that came with your purchase.* You'll find the product key on a yellow sticker on the back of your DVD media holder.

You'll also need to supply the following information:
Your name
Your shipping address
Credit card information

Expiration date

Your e-mail address**

vij said:Hmm....Vista Home Premium costs 7,200 For the Retail pack...
I guess upgradation will cost atleast 50$ considering shipping/handling + some fee plus a wait of about a month.
Total comes to about 10k...
Why is it such a hassle to buy legal sw....
Anyways thanks guys!

Shipping/handling will be about 1k max, definitely NOT 50$ as you assumed

For all others MS charges you a minor fee to send you the 64-bit disc![]()
octave said:Yes vij they by default ship the 32bit disc. The 64bit disc is free and the shipping should cost you Rs 800 which is the same amount they charge when you order a service pack disc.

@techie
All threads ask different Questions, albeit on Vista. Also by having the thread title describe exactly the Questions/Contents it makes for better categorization.
Vista basic and Business both are different.senfunn said:Didnt want to open a new Thread ... Guys I want to Buy a Vista Home Basic 64Bit version.
I went to "Binary Spectrum" since they had been mentioned as Golden Partners...
It was a Software Service Firm i guess. and the person told me that they(microsoft) have renamed Vista Basic to Vista Business....
I told him that original copy of Vista Basic is around 5K ... he told me that people might steal and sell at that prices ...... I could only run as fast as i could from that place....
Now these shops online, dont specify whether its 32bit/64bit versions and i dont want to get into some iterative problems with them and after receiving a 32bit version ....
Please Guide me to the right online shoppy or somewhere in Bangalore...
