Wired Home Automation solution?

Sure, just that I do not have access to the marketplace yet. This was just to help OP and other TE members interested in home automation, and I do not intend to make any profit from this. But please let me know if this should be removed from here.

Yeah, currently contributing to get the access. I might pay for the month's access, but will anyways need permanent access eventually, so will wait for the same.

I have my home fully automated. From curtains to all, wherever possible and completely wireless. They work flawlessly. It's Tuya-based and works with intranet [except the automated schedules]. I have 0 failures to date for 5+ years. And if you are nerd+ get it to work with Home Assistant; you can control anything from TV to Waching Machine.

On the wired automation POV and was aligned to the same to be better than wireless, but after reviewing the pros and cons and working closely with the system integrator I can say I am happy with wireless at the EOD.

I love to talk more and more on the same and hope to hear more from the keen members here.

Good for you!
I was planning this for a new home, where going with wired would add minimal costs. Or I might put APs in every single room and have some stuff wireless if wires will look messy.

I like wired cause it's generally more reliable when I'm not present in the house. If someone borks all the APs in our current house, the HA will still work flawlessly cause it doesn't depend on WiFi at all. Even if you were to drill and cut the wire, it'll just fallback to being manually controlled things.

Anyway, no wireless recommendations here please. Feel free to create another thread or continue in the million or so threads about home automation haha. Most of them focus on wireless anyway.

But, feel free to list your pros and cons of wired vs wireless automations. It might help someone to decide which path to proceed, and really, isn't that why we are here in the first place? Cheers!

First, congratulations on your new home, @KAKAN :)

I get why you’re leaning toward wired—reliability is king, right? But I’d gently nudge you to double-check the idea that wired home automation comes at a minimal cost. Those two don’t exactly walk together. Maybe take a closer look at numbers.

Also, wireless tech has leaped forward since the days you might be thinking of—it’s a different beast now. I won’t preach about it here (happy to spin off a new thread or jump into one of the million others, haha), but it’s worth noting.

Your point about “even if you drill and cut the wire, it’ll just fall back to manual control” applies to wireless too, so it doesn't stand enough grounds.

I’m just here to shed light for the forum folks—tech knowledge seems a bit fuzzy for some, and I’d love to clear the haze.

On the pros and cons, it depends on which type of wireless tech you are using. There are 3–4 types of technology. If you can let me know, I'll be happy to give you the pros and cons. Else AI and Google are always there.

Cheers !!

Haha, thanks. I'm planning, don't have one yet.

Comes at a minimal cost relative to the price of the home, I meant.

And yes, I've researched a fair bit about all the different protocols available, but wired still seems like the best solution nonetheless.

I do see your point, however. Having wired won't stop me from having wireless. If anything, it'll make the wireless part more reliable if I eliminate SPoF as much as possible. So yeah, I don't see a reason not to go wired.
