Mark my words. I said "If you are a gamer..."

A gamer is a person who is not really much bothered about visual eye candy but about whats in the game itself... I recently played Farcry 3 on my 360 and I had played both Farcry & Farcry 2 on my PC and belive me I had a much better experience playing on the console. No installation issue, Instant on, No updates, No setting up the eyecandy, nothing as such. Pure gaming experience.

I have just started playing Tomb Raider on my xbox and I am really happy with the graphics. For sure PC's output would be much much better but game-play experience as well as gfx quality is totally acceptable on the Xbox itslef.

I have my Xbox hooked with a 40" LCD along with a 5.1 Onkyo Home theater placed right infront of a very comfy bed/couch.

Yea, but if you are really a GAMER, how do you forgo the mouse keyboard combo for a FPS, I just cant get over it, and am stuck to PC for FPS and PS3 for arcade games.

OP with your budget, do suggest you a console, but do look at the long term costs of purchasing games, which is also a very important factor.

@Switch : Hi , as you said that you found that xbox experience better than PC. As you tried that xbox on a 40" . Did you try the same game on 40" with HDMi output from PC?
And yes budget is not a issue anymore guys. Yes i am a gamer only if there is visual candy ! Otherwise not :p:p:p
Coz have decided on CPU , Mobo , Ram and next week the XFX card.
Plus i will be able to use the keyboard and xbox controller too...!

In my golden days I have jumped from almost all the great cards till HD 4870(trust me this is from original Riva TNT to VoDoo to the original GeForce 256 to what not) and I honestly believe that a console is far more suited to a true gamer then a PC. Yes for FPS you need a keyboard mouse combo(especially for really competitive games like Counter Strike etc) but there are games beyond FPS and that's where a console shines. You put the discs and its on. No installations, No updates no gfx card driver issues nothing. Just gaming. The Gfx card eye candy is superior to consoles by leaps and bounds but so is the price and don't get me started on its life cycle. The last gen consoles have lasted for almost a decade cant even dream half of that for a today's high end pc with the most powerful of Gfx cards.

If you are all in for eye candy then no question go in for a PC based solution but if you really want hassle free gaming experience then consoles are the way to go.

Finally bought the XBOX 360 Slim ! And the quality i get at 1080p is quite superb mindblowing in all games like crysis 3 in 3D on my 47" LED.
Really does it even has difference when compared to PC? Coz at this graphics too i am very very satisfied. Is this coz of LED ?

No because you are sitting way back from my monitor this time so you cannot say low res textures.

I always say that if you are in for Gaming then Console is best option. I am not a sucker for Ultra realistic graphics and neither i can keep spending too much moolah for updating the PC hardware everytime a new game comes out.
That is why i went ahead and got my PS3 2 months back. The gaming experience is more than satisfactory so far. :)

Yes it does. I can easily make out the difference between playing the PC games rendered at native 1080p with everything maxed out and any PS3 or 360 game at 720p. Console games look washed out and dull compared to the sharp and vivid look of the PC version. Try BioShock Infinite on the 360 and then max it out on the PC, you'll instantly notice the difference on you LED. But if you're satisfied with the quality, then I guess it doesn't matter.
