always get version from here - https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/releases , or if you have any old, use "./youtube-dl -U" command to update.


here get this combo youtube-dl+all dependencies+ old UI, working flawlessly in windows machine.
Delete the "args.txt" if you want to set your own preferences.

It will auto-update ytdl when new release come. dont update the GUI,

I would refrain from using modded versions of it.

I always find github confusing, under assets, which one to download?

yes it can be confusion at times, if one don't know what exactly they need :)

if you got the mega one, you are all set. i have everything set up under the folder. just unzip the folder and click youtube-dl-gui. that's it. It will auto update ytdl if needed in future.
( im removing the mega link by end of the day)

Update: looks like original youtube-dl facing some issues lately, its not update after june & YT changed something at their end recently, making ytdl not abel to doload in speed, for me it was capped in 32kbps.

better use this binary - https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/releases/download/2021.11.10.1/yt-dlp.exe ( rename accordingly). download speeds are back to 100+mbps.

I use Allavsoft, it's very simple and works with almost everything, even reddit
Just have to paste page url in it and it will download the video file
